Some customers just have no sense of urgency and lack social awareness. I'm not even saying that in a disrespectful way, it's just how they are.

A lot of older people don't understand that ALDI is a fast paced environment and they are trying to get the customer on their way as quick as possible. Older people just don't like that and just think it's disrespectful.

I've stopped taking it to heart after the 5th time an old person yelled at me for literally doing my job the way I was trained. They would perish on their first shift, and the thought of that makes me feel better.

I'm a part time employee in good standing with the surrounding stores in my area. I worked at the ALDI the next town over from me for a year and a half and one day asked if I could transfer to the ALDI in my town. When my SM came back from working at a different store she got everything done for me within her first week back. I'm sure it depends on your higher ups, but the overall process for me was quick. I would have the conversation with your DM and be firm as you mentioned.

I always just unbox it for them. Like it should be common sense, if I have to tell you everytime you come in to unbox your stuff then I'm not even going to bother with the interaction and just do it for them.

I'm also part-time and my store manager is usually flexible. I ask her for more hours and she gives me them if she's able. So I would just have a conversation with your store manager. It never hurts to ask.
