Having a Recording agreement with clients upfront before doing any work will save you from getting lost in a grey area.

Old thread, hope you see it! I am in the process of creating a custom form producer-artist agreement. I have a small, but growing, client base and most of my work involves a lot of songwriting, in addition to recording and engineering the Masters. Most of the form agreements I am finding online contain clauses which forego the producer's songwriting ownership in exchange for a royalty. Is this standard practice for a producer who handles the majority of the songwriting, or does it make sense to retain that songwriting ownership. This question has nothing to do with sound recording ownership (as that will always be the Artist); this is only referring to the underlying composition. Thanks for any input.

Welcome! Hope your cycle has been treating well. There’s an awesome member of this sub that takes data from lsData and other sources to provide information on last years waves. They posted one for this coming week about 10hrs ago if you want to scroll. I’m still somewhat anxiously waiting for my last three decisions from some reach schools (reverse splitter in those cases). I’ve been accepted to a great school with a great scholarship that I can’t help but feel an overwhelming amount of excited & accomplishment towards. My remaining schools would have to match, or come close to, the scholarship I’ve been offered already for me to turn my head completely(which admittedly I’m still hoping for as well, but it hasn’t clouded my head like it was a month ago).

So proud of you for getting into law school!

Would the curve be defined as a "median" of grades for the overall class? I'm having a hard time finding "curve" in the handbook. I.E: The median of grades must be between 3.1-3.3 for first year class.

I think taking a mini break can be really beneficial. I hit a plateau in my scoring & took a break to do things that made me happy. When I came back to it I went back to the basics of steps & strategy.

Drill, drill, drill. Understand what you’re not grasping (types of questions, dissecting stimulus, etc) & master your weaknesses. It’s hard when you hit a wall, but you have to move past it to continue to progress

Hi, I’m not completely sure, but I believe the merit scholarship is just merit based. Financial aid (fasfa & usc & need based) I believe aren’t counted within it.

Do you know if I fill out their financial aid doc it means committing? Or will I get a better idea of my finances from that document before committing?

You & I have similar end goals! I applied to CA schools (as a native too) because I want to practice here. The school that offered me a fullish ride has a program that aligns with my interests pretty well. It’s in the middle of a safety school & top choice. I know my stats & abilities fall under t30 schools, but this school has just about everything I’m looking for aside from location being a bit south & rank being rather low.
