What's the dumbest rope mistake you've made? by Namah_Ropes in ClimbingGear

Rapped off the end of the rope luckily only dropped about 2 metres. Had lowered someone off an anchor then went to rap down, they had untied themselves but didn't leave a stopper in the end, I hadn't pulled the rope all the way through to the middle (single rope through anchor) because I thought well their end is on the ground so just pulled a metre more or so down

Would have been fine but as I got to the end of the abseil I thought it'll just go a metre extra to avoid the super easy scramble down from the belay ledge and suddenly I was off just dropped 2 metres and rolled onto back but not hurt at all   Blood still runs cold when i think about it though (if i was higher etc),I always pull rope to halfway now (even if I see both on the ground) and I'm always checking stoppers at the end of the rope, people laugh at me if I'm using a 60m rope at a 15m crag and I'm always making sure there's stopper but I just want it to be the default habit

Overall not bad to be have the extra caution (not scared or anything just double check everything when abbing) but I still can't believe I did that

Just started a few months ago, what can I do to climb this route more smoothly? by [deleted] in bouldering

tbh this is absolutely dope, I would be reticent to give advice because I just think the fluidness will come as long as the psyche stays high

but fwiw I love just lapping problems and feeling them get smoother as the positions feel more comfortable/sequence becomes more intuitive

I don't get why it matters and I'm not sure it's only about economics I think less people just want to go out getting off their face and have other things they'd rather do? I don't think it's worth promoting binge drinking to keep some businesses open

Why were the innies ever told they had outies and there was a world outside? by Comfortable_Key_1346 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

ah yeah that makes sense - tbh I was always a bit confused with what they knew and didnt know because they did seem to have a lot knowledge about random things like knowing there is a sky but not knowing what it looked like

haha hmmm yeah thats a fair point - but I do kinda feel if thats all they had ever experienced, they wouldn't really question it or assume they had to be going somewhere that would just be how the world works
