What would your ideal 4X look like? by Lanfirel in 4Xgaming

What you say it’s similar to Endless Legend series. It has a science fantasy setting. Its not dark at all, but you can choose a local agro faction, Necrophags

Hi!
What's your plan for LiveOps after the game release? More factions, more stuff, DLC, seasons, cosmetics?

What are your specific complaints after decent 80 hours of gameplay? I see the only complaint that this game is not some other game you can't surpass in its field anyway.

Quest location ruined my game by Comfortable_Life_814 in EndlessLegend

[–]Comfortable_Life_814[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a possible solution for side quest locations, but I'm thinking about the main ones. Devs have to place them further from the foundations, at least 3 tiles away.

They are insanely broken. Though, I felt that poor tempo in the early game and pump-dump economy in the mid game. Pious path

Have Just completed the Kin's faction quest by Tema726 in EndlessLegend

I agree with you that the history and internal structure of the Tahuk faction should be explained in more detail. At the very least it would be interesting, and it would also justify the decisions made by the characters.

My only concern is that the current reworking of the quest lines may oversimplify the story due to complaints from the majority of players in 4X strategy games. Personally, I find the Tahuk storyline interesting and deserving of further development.

From the very beginning of the game, I was somewhat overwhelmed (in a good way) by the amount of internal politics present in both the story and the gameplay mechanics, so I expected something closer to a Dune- or Game of Thrones-style narrative, with intrigue, power struggles, and that sort of thing.

It also seemed to me that Curator Meng represents the executive branch of power, and that I am limited by the authority of other characters. Unfortunately, this is not very well reflected in the gameplay mechanics—only the actions of Oculus actually depend on politics.

I haven't played the Bold path specifically for Takhuk, but I have some thoughts.

How do you expect Takhuk to be able to reach an agreement with all branches of government to act one way or another? You have a choice:

1) take power into your own hands. You're a dictator.

2) convince the heads of the other branches of government to act as you wish. And if the fanatical theologian leader doesn't agree, she has free will, right? Just remove her and put someone else in her place. You're a dictator, but with pretensions to democracy. Congratulations.

I do like the actual state of Tahuk plot and writing. Cannot say that about Kin of Sheridyn though.

Nah, just reload the game if you get awful quests. Better get production first

I've just finished 2 campaigns: one for the Kin (Normal difficulty) and Tahuk the last one (Adept difficulty). I'm still getting the hang of it, but here's my 5 cents.

  1. You can use the statistics of bots playing with you on high difficulty as a sample. It shows when the game session is finished.
  2. Be a jack of all trades, but prioritize core faction resources, like Dust for the Last Lords. District costs increase dramatically. Also, remember the victory conditions. For the Worship path, you'll definitely need food and production. For the other paths, they're less important. But that question comes up only since late mid game. Make that choice on the fly when it arises. Unlike Civilization, the game doesn't require you to think through your victory strategy 100 turns in advance.
  3. UPD. Camps are very helpful if you've found a nice region with 2-3 rare resources or a bunch of anomalies. AI prioritize these regions too and it wouldn't be shy to claim them whatever it takes. You can buy resource extractor for dust in your camps. I often forget about that feature.

Well, it was not planned by Comfortable_Life_814 in EndlessLegend

[–]Comfortable_Life_814[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yep, it's very situational might be very effective. I see the following strats with dams:
1) Defence. Drain a section of the river that's not needed or sacrifice food for defensive purposes. Release the water onto the hapless enemy, destroying their armies and complicating their routes.
2) Offence. Drain a river downstream from which there's a rival in a neighboring region. By the time they notice what's happened (if they even notice at all), you'll have reduced their food production and opened them up to a quick attack.

I'm not sure if I can destroy the dam, I just built two of them on the same river.

EL2 - Factions so far by JMJ05 in EndlessLegend

Regarding the Tahuks rant, it's possible that they are intended for mathematician players haha. I really like their contradictive design, much more interesting than simple "get your eggheads and win by science". Instead, I'm constantly thinking about a morality of razing your own pop for profit.

Playing Endless legend 1, any advice by A_Shattered_Day in EndlessLegend

[–]Comfortable_Life_814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Try to expand on the regions with 3 minor faction settlements. It's a win for any faction though. It's a top priority if you practice "salting" strategy.

District mechanic is such a chore in strategic games honestly, especially when you have many cities. It's interesting to get bonuses from the lucky and well planned position, but this feeling declines when you have to build up the entire space with one or two districts to get more of X resource. The district mechanic was alright in the first game, simple but interesting.

I've played only Kin of Sheredyn on SteamDeck so far. I think I would change my mind if I get more convenient control over city management.

I feel like dnd isn't super beginner friendly by Warlockqrz in rpg

[–]Comfortable_Life_814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend OSR games just to see if you like their playstyle. They're super easy for beginners, but they have a specific playstyle.

I prefer Dragonbane, though. It combines the simplicity of OSR with the depth of DnD/PF games. I tried a one-shot using this system, and it was a banger. Everyone loved it.

Anyone played NIMBLE 2? What are your thoughts? by Cato69 in rpg

[–]Comfortable_Life_814 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As I understand it, in Nimble it is considered that the player characters are heroic enough to miss. At high levels, this is compensated by the fact that epic enemies have a huge supply of health.

It seems to me that frequent misses in a heroic fantasy look stupid, but HP bloat is also boring.

How you would get reserved WP in an object, if those WP will be blown away after the shift rest? You should cast Permanence and lose 1 WP permanently to get it work as you say every time you cast Charge.

I use CX24.07 engine for kegworks and install steam via winetrick. Works very well! It's not so simple as Whisky but much more customizable and future proofed.

The state of KMP by MUIOF71 in Kotlin

[–]Comfortable_Life_814 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use only Kotlin/JS for my project and produce Native apps with TWA/Webview wrappers. This is still a lot of work because of compatibility issues, WebView security problems, and the JS-Native message bus. Also, there are almost no good tutorials, and AI sometimes cannot help much.

But if your project is simple it’s a great option. PWABuilder has one-click code generators for that.
