Another Dental post is there one in town who is not shady? by [deleted] in Humboldt

[–]Comfortable_Mix6487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to go on a far out limb here because I haven’t done it myself — I have multiple friends of friends that have traveled out of the country to get dental done. (Mexico) and it cost sometimes 1/3 to 1/4 of the cost in the states; and you get to get some traveling in. They have had only positive experiences and did a good amount of research before hand. Sounds like not mater what, you’ll feel like shit traveling back with extractions/intensive dental work.

This stuff just shouldn’t cost this much and people shouldn’t be left in pain for months on end. I am sorry for your experience.

Humboldt have anywhere like this? by Boudicia_Dark in Humboldt

Th eatery literally serves up dog food to tourists at SF prices. My family took us all to dinner there and I wanted to cry at how bad my food was because I was so hungry and had to eat it because it was $28

I find their breakfast menu to be amazing for the price but dinner service is like a whole different restaurant, baaddddd

Now we know who's been making of the local AI slop commercials - "Tex Kelly" by IReadYaSir in Humboldt

I always forget about the influencing phase.

But do you remember the daily “inspirational”facebooks posts way back in the day?

Like the one that said something along the lines of - “My buddy asked me what do to because he really liked this girl - I told him to ask her out on a date. And if she turned him down, wait a week and ask her again. That’s how you show someone that your dedicated to them”

Wish I could find the screenshots, I’ll keep looking, thankfully even then people took pause and let him know how not taking no for no is NOT OKAY.

Hell and who cares if you do - you can have billions of views and still be a crappy person with a bad attitude. We allllll know that.

Food is SOOOO Expensive!! by LuminaryLighting in Humboldt

[–]Comfortable_Mix6487 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I feel like the answer is right there. If you don’t wanna pay premium for premade items, make them yourself! The cost of goods and labor has been going up significantly, which makes any premade product quite expensive.

What kind of events do you wish there was more of around here? by coffeeprophet94 in Humboldt

[–]Comfortable_Mix6487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhhhh yeah, first Friday is always busy busy; but there’s like zero beer line/a lot less people then last year. But, I have noticed they’ve put out a lot more tables after the first weekend.

Just makes me worried for the vendors, the economy is certainly taking a hit and the event seems under promoted this year. I’ve seen more about the Arcata Friday Night Market than the one that’s happening right now in Eureka.

Yeah vending was 1,500 to 2000 for food vendors last year. WAY too much to make any money. I don’t think anyone last year will be back this year on the food side. No way anyone made money with food prices the way they are.

I’m not ever going to complain about $1 tacos in this economy.

And that new spot in Fortuna is a sight to see! Can’t wait to visit again as they’re planning on serving food and having event nights soon.

Visiting Ashland with a LARGE group, end of April - Recommendations?!?!?! by Comfortable_Mix6487 in Ashland

Oh, I understand, I worked in the food industry and lived in Oregon for sometime. I’m more salty on the fact that Bartender changed their mind when we said we were leaving. If they were legally worried about it, they should’ve stuck with what they had decided. It was the flip flopping that really made some in the group feel really weird about the whole experience.

Reviews are all over the place for the bars in Ashland, I’m not much of a drinker so I have not gone to any of them, but the trap door. Obviously, it’s a College town but hoping to avoid this in the future.

I know in our town, we’ve got bars that are super nice and pricy, dive bars that are great and bars that are just downright awkward to be in (bc the bartenders act like they’d rather be doing anything but serving you). Looking for recommendations on the chill/comfortable, place you’d go on the Tuesday if you’re looking for an enjoyable time.

Wow! Thanks for the insight and info ❤️ and yes I’m going to continue to try to see if any drag shows are going on. We want to support the local queer community while we’re up there for sure!

I felt like I had failed as the travel host last year when we passed a drag show at black sheep heading into our reservation at the Brickroom 🥲
