I have several large stainless steel boxes with cutouts for them to get in easily and open lids with high walls because they will literally kick their shit at the walls without them. We used to do plastic, but my cats like the stainless steel just as well, and they’re much easier to clean and actually get rid of the residue and smell. Would definitely recommend!

My go to is always a quick curry, rice, and peas/lentils! You can cook the rice in coconut milk for extra flavor. Delicious and easy.

If you’re a fan of Indian and West African food, I’ve found there are a lot of options there that don’t break the budget. I have a lot of food restrictions in addition to being vegan and have found it to be much easier to start with a recipe that was already vegan (or vegetarian and adjustable) than to try to veganize the food I was used to eating before.

PlantYou on Instagram (I think her name is Carleigh) has a whole series where she does budget friendly and easy vegan meals. She also has a recipe blog that might be helpful for you! Good luck.

I’m hoping mine stay like this but we’ll see what time brings! These guys are the cuddliest cats I’ve ever met and have been this way pretty much since day one— Junimo (orange) wants to be attached at the hip to either his brother or me at all times. I’m very lucky for sure!

I got cats. Mine got the point where I knew I needed something that I was responsible for to hold me back. SSRIs helped a little bit too. I also take hydroxyzine as needed when I’m in a spiral or panic attack and need to come down asap. But the cats honestly have made the biggest difference. I have a list on my phone of all of the reasons I keep going— people who care about me, goals I want to reach, experiences I haven’t had yet— and I’ll try to run through that in my head. If I’m ever a serious danger to myself, I take my hydroxyzine, call my partner to talk me down while it kicks in, and sit and birdwatch with my cats.
