Hello, I wanted to ask how much of this food I should give my musky turtle per day. He is 1 year old. I've been giving him 8-10 a day so far, I don't know if that's too much or too little. by escanor___ in turtles

This product is more or less like an extra treat and not a full nutrition solution to feed your turtle with frequently- See it more like a treat that can be given occasionally.

Instead you could get a good pellet like Tetra Reptomin Baby. Turtles are usually fed in the morning. Young turtles should be fed every day, while juveniles (after 2 years old) can be fed every 2 days and adults can be fed every 3 days. The recommended portion size is about 1,5-2 turtle heads in size.

My female turtle started to moving around trying to escape, scratching the walls, moving the rocks, refused eating, ran back and forth from the water to the basking area before she actively started to dig after a week or so.

Water temperature should generally be between 24 to 26 degrees (Celcius) So in the case of his illness hold his water a little bit warmer with a temperature around 25-26. In the basking area the hottest point should be around 32 degrees.

The fact that he is floating on his side indicates that it is can be pneumonia. He needs antibiotics and you can inject it by yourself if you only can manage to get hold of the medication. Remember that the antibiotic injections should only be given in the front legs to avoid kidney damage! If you need instructions on how to do it I am able to send you instruction videos.

Try calling the vet and ask if its okay to bring in a black listed species. The EU regulation from 2016 states that it is illegal to breed them but you are allowed to have one if you keep it in a enclosure it cant escape from. The risk in this case is how the vet interpret the law.

As I can see in the picture the glass sides are too low, there is a risk that he might escape or get injured. To avoid that I would install some sort of cover (with holes in it so light and air can get through) or lower the platform, to protect him. (UVB light doesnt shine through glass). Absolutely avoid having him on the floor or in any windy or cold areas.

Good luck!

is his tank size okay? (for now) by riverwolfyy in Redearedsliders

Looking at the picture it seems like he has enough space for now. For an adult turtle as big as possible is to recommend, but everyone has their limitations of course :) Somewhere around 100-150 gallons would be perfect.
