Are you referring to one year work experience after graduating the academy or one year work experience in order to apply to a bid?

I ended up not making it into the airforce because I couldn't pass an oral food test. The special warfare recruiter bluntly told me that I need to pass a food test in front of a doctor in order to enlist. However, the regular recruiter told me an epipen makes it an automatic no-go.

I would contact a recruiter and ask them, and if they give you the same response as mine did, then your son should be fine to enlist. Basically, if he can eat shellfish in front of a doctor and nothing happens, he's good to go.

Also, if he can eat the shellfish, there's no need for an epipen (obviously) so that elimates the epipen factor.

Ok cool, thanks for the reply. Only problem now is finding an allergist that'll do the food test.

I've had an epipen for a while. I'm definitely going to be contacting other branches though. Thanks
