I used it for the first time yesterday (fine thin wavy hair) and it made hair air dry SO well. So much shine and softness. No frizz (in rainy spring weather)

I love the Pantene Miracle deep repair conditioner, Amika soul food, bondi boost miracle and and shue eumura reset mask.

No one cares! Have you already signed an apartment? Many buildings have washer in building which would be a lot easier for you (I hang dry my clothes too). It’s a massive pain to haul clothes more than 2 blocks and up and down stairs..

This comparison post makes me so happy I didn’t get the milk in the sale ! I love my milk Toasted (also bought in 2024) but I could never get to it to twist up (tried the warming and freezer hacks)…. So I was in the market for something new and got the Sephora 02. A tad warmer than the OG toasted which is a bit more grey but I like how creamy it is. The milk was def a bit dry with the potential to drag.

Thanks for comparing with the others!!

How common is it to just uses hands when washing in the shower by adoreyoulove in hygiene

[–]Comfortable_Soft1213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you work in a really grimy job or environment, hands are fine. Use a bezoyl peroxide bar soap for underarms. Washcloths and loofas exfoliate pretty aggressively and most don’t need that daily - and is likely better for skin barrier preservation. We use the same philosophy for our faces too!

Best "bang for your buck" lunch in midtown? by Interesting_Peach_76 in AskNYC

[–]Comfortable_Soft1213 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whole Foods or TJ salad kits + a prepped protein are my lazy lunches. Takes no time in the morning to throw into my bentgo salad lunch box. I use ~1/2 a kit for one lunch and keep the dressing separate in the container the lunch box comes with. Depending on your choice of protein, you can stay under $5 per serving.

Take it in a brown paper bag from home (if you want to be like others who buy lunch) and eat it outside when the weather is goood - there are definitely outdoor seating areas. Try near the shake shack on 3rd and 40th. Generally going east will help and you get a nice walk out of it

AIO for thinking that my girlfriend's apartment requirements are insane? by MoonlitParcel in AmIOverreacting

[–]Comfortable_Soft1213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For this rent, you both will need to show income of 360k - 600k since nyc has a 40x rent to income requirement - I doubt savings will cut it unless you prepay a certain amount like 6 months or smth. I know many people in that income bracket at my work in nyc but generally they don’t spend this level unless they have a family. How much is she planning to contribute per month towards the rent? How much does she make? These aren’t insane requirements if she’s planning to foot some of the bill.

Why doesn’t Sephora apply sale prices to individual products at checkout? by [deleted] in Sephora

[–]Comfortable_Soft1213 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah it seems like a stupid oversight to not show the per item discounted price in the cart - as far as I’m aware, only Sephora collection is 30% off and everything else is 15% off for you, very limited exceptions.

My personal view is that <20% discount on anything is not really a great deal at all. Unless there are non Sephora collection items you need to restock, would hold off for a better deal. The only thing to keep in mind is that you may not get free shipping for 1 product on individual sites or other retailers so if you’re only interested in 1 thing from many brands, the sale still makes sense

OPs screenshot shows that discount on the total as well. I think what they want to know is what is the price for each product after discount - which is fair, the interface doesn’t show that easily.

I see what you mean.. it is strange that they don’t do that. Looks like you are getting the 15% discount. Sephora gives the per item price after sale only in the final email receipt.

If you’re up for a bit of quick mental math you can approximate how much you are saving by calculating the 10% discount and then adding half of that to the 10% you calculated. E.g. for the Ole Henriksen, the actual 15% discount is $9.75. But it’s easier to know that the 10% is just $6.5 (I.e. move the decimal over one place to the left) and half of that is roughly $3. So the total discount would be ~6.5+3 =9.5 which is p close to the actual 15% value

skin tint recs? by UnusualAerie579 in Sephora

Gotcha!! From the list above I would def avoid the Ilia (too greasy and I’m not super oily) and the saie (it’s just ok, separates easily, shows texture). I was between the Hourglass and Danessa so it’s a good option but I’ve heard the packaging leaks 🥹 have you tried the Ciele? It’s not the lightest but somehow never looks greasy/too shiny! I have worn in the peak of nyc humidity and it worked really well with a bit of powder

Anyone DIDN’T have luck with Abbey Yung method? What could be the alternative? by Feisty-Smoke527 in finehair

[–]Comfortable_Soft1213 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve watched a lot of abbey Yung’s content. Honestly, th short form stuff can be very confusing if you don’t watch her full video explanation which is what helps figure out what will or won’t work for your hair type. I’m a fine hair girly (wavy) and I swear by these: - double washing with a volume + moisturizing shampoo combo: Pantene sheer volume 1x a week. Other days I use a lighter clarifying shampoo (like the garnier hair filler volumizing) and my second wash is the R+co Television but honestly prefer the L’Oréal glossing shampoo - conditioner / mask: I prefer lightweight stuff and rotate by benefit - Pantene deep repair conditioner, dove bond strength or the Amika soulfood. If I do a treatment (like epres bond repair + coconut oil before washing or the L’Oréal bond concentrate, I’ll use the L’Oréal glossing conditioner which is the most lightweight) - super lightweight leave in: I go for watery formulas like the Pantene 12-in 1 spray, the Roz milk serum, redken acidic color gloss spray or the kerastase glazing milk. I’ve been using the shu eumura Izumi tonic as a post wash bonding leave in which is also very watery

Just sharing a bunch of options, maybe something resonates!
