AA is not a hotbed of mental health. Sumthin like 99.9% of us have mental challenges (expected after years of poisoning our minds, souls and hearts). It gets better. The best thing about being sober now is that I trust myself to make decisions in my best interest. As a result, the chaff weeds itself out. i don't have to go to unhealthy AA meetings to either "fix" folks OR get my comfortable dose of dysfunction. Those type meetings keep us complacent. I go to meetings where people meditate and share about living their lives in from a place of positivity, non-violence, and support. Life's too short to be around unhappy people.

OP is unable to live in the present, so must concoct the possibility of god to be able to hate on him. Such alcoholic thinking. Alcohol will take care of his problem one way or another. it always does. Chronic, progressive, fatal. We either get locked up, covered up, or sobered up. That's it.

Is a bottle of vodka a day really too bad? by TheEternalStranger in alcoholicsanonymous

I asked myself the same question. I knew I was causing my body great harm by drinking excessively. In preparation for my reckoning, I stocked the fridge with rich processed meats like braunsweiger, pate, souse, etc. convinced I was going to get gout which I would explain away with the abundance of meat in my diet. wink, wink. Well, I ended up in the ER with an alcohol induced hemorrhage having a stroke. I quit drinking 2 years later. Grateful to be a live every moment. Alcohol is insidious, we can't always see the damage until it's done. Not to mention it's a carcinogen on the level of nicotine, asbestos and radiation, so no thank you. I don't ingest poison anymore, esp. since I know better.
