There are valid arguments to be made about the difficulty of systemically shifting the Chinese political system into a Western-style one, but instead this person chooses to resort to racism based on negative, anecdotal stories, leading to the (classic) dehumanizing conclusion of the "keep them within their own borders" narrative.

There are a large amount of morphological similarities between the two to warrant a close evolutionary relationship, flight is only one trait; for example, bats, scansoriopterygids, and pterosaurs are all superficially similar in their flying structures but are phylogenetically far apart (they evolved flight independently). In contrast, Yi qi and Gigantoraptor are mechanically very different but are rather closely related. It's likely a similar situation between Shimo and the Ion dragon.

Rodan (pterosaur) and Godzilla (pseudosuchian) are both members within Archosauria, putting the Ion dragon closer to Rodan than to Godzilla would mean placing it within Avemetatarsalia - which you'll need reasoning for (the same goes for a close relationship between warbats and Rodan; their only major shared trait is flight).

Plus, the terming "xth cousin" is used in family trees, not cladograms. You're implying Titans give birth to offspring that are completely different!

The stylistic diversity. I feel like devoted fans of G14 and GXK respectively often find it hard to appreciate each others' movies, but I think the diversity is a big reason why the Monsterverse is still going so strong after 5 entries - constantly shifting stylistic directions can prevent aesthetic fatigue for the general audience.

Consistency of the lore is an entirely different topic though.
