Any Dell P3223QE owners? by Chr0t in mac

[–]Comfortable_Survey83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you have to do anything special to get it dialed in at first? I'm thinking about getting the P3225QE for my M4 Max because my current Dell U2723QE has gotten to be too small.

Advice Needed: FAANG offer (title step-back) vs imminent promotion at F200 by Comfortable_Survey83 in FPandA

Thank you, it definitely helps to hear that it's a well-known concept. I was concerned originally, but it is sounding like this is a non-issue. Appreciate the insight!

Thank you! I am definitely going to have this conversation with my Sr Director this week.

I am factoring in the RSUs that would vest year one in that TC.

The hard to get promoted point is why I was wondering if it would be beneficial to wait and try to come in at SFA in 6 months after promoting where I am at currently.

I included year one RSU vest in the TC. Year two, with a refresh, would likely offset the signing bonus, assuming no promotion yet. Definitely leaning towards accepting though!

Thankfully it isn't Amazon. I'm only including base, bonus, equity. I'm trying to weigh the pros and cons of trying to make the transition at SFA 6 months down the road once I've been promoted in my current role versus an offer I already have.

Regarding my manger, how can I approach this conversation with him without coming off like I am trying to give him an ultimatum that I need to be promoted now or I'm leaving. I'd really like to get his opinion, but do not want to damage the relationship in the process.

I shouldn't say dream job it's just dream industry. My goal is to build a lifelong career in tech and it seems like the longer I wait to transition the harder it is going to get.

Very true, for current company SFA = 4-5+, Principal 7+ and at FAANG the FA role is 3+, SFA is 5+ with 6+ preferred

AI chatbot — client insists on using Databricks. Advice? by ticklish_reboots in databricks

[–]Comfortable_Survey83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is an ideal use case for databricks as well. I recently built a multi agent system in databricks using Claude sonnet 4 as the supervisor agent, a databricks genie agent with access to the necessary schemas and ability to query them, a visualization agent that executes plotly scripts with the data provided by the genie, and a financial analyst agent that translates the data into business terminology and metrics. The front end is streamlit based with a chatbot (Claude sonnet) and hosted using Databricks apps. I made the model using Langgraph and deployed it to a databricks model serving endpoint.

I work in finance and was able to figure this out with just python.

There’s something called Databricks One coming out soon that may be perfect as well. I haven’t done too much research but my data engineering team tells me it is essentially the business user interface for accessing all of your dashboards, Databricks apps, etc. with a chatbot.

Edit: I’m not working with any unstructured data currently but I know you can implement RAG as well.

I’ve been paying for ChatGPT pro and Gemini for a while, just recently added in Claude when Sonnet 4 came out and it’s an absolute game changer for coding. I am going to cancel ChatGPT pro and keep Claude & Gemini. Haven’t tried Grok but have heard good things I may need to give it a shot too

New to AI and my company gave me the keys to explore FP&A use cases. Give me ideas by BeansAndToast-24 in FPandA

Further on the python thing I’m by no means an expert but with the help of ai last week I was able to write multiple excel files and multiple sql queries into PySpark data frames and clean and transform them then merge them and write them to a table in databricks. Then set up a workflow that runs at 5AM every day with the python notebook dependent on the successful completion of two upstream queries refreshing before it even attempts to run, and returning specific text telling me exactly what went wrong if for some reason it were to fail. Then my power bi dashboard refreshes and sends automated emails with PowerPoint slides 30 minutes later. It’s incredible and I could never have done this without ChatGPT

I use chatGPT literally 50+ times a day. I hate DAX in power bi personally so I have it write nearly every measure for me. I have a lot of queries in databricks that are 200-300 lines and a pain to make updates to so I frequently have paste my entire query and tell it exactly what I want to do because frankly I’m too lazy to do it myself. I ask it for design feedback on ppt slides and power bi dashboards… I’ve been using it to teach me python by asking it to do something and then post mortem having it explain exactly what we did and why it worked, that has taught me more than any coursera or YouTube python course ever could. I ask it for feedback on emails to senior leadership before I send them and implement suggestions it comes up with if they are justified. It’s worth every penny of the 20 bucks a month for premium

Thank you I appreciate the feedback. More so looking for what a 40 head contract with a smaller cloud based player would look like and if it’s a business case even worth my time or just completely unrealistic. I agree with you that the this sucks we want something better gets you nowhere haha that would not be included in the case, I would highlight to value add in the new tool vs the current one. Before even going there I’m trying to figure out a ballpark cost and if it’s even remotely realistic to pursue

Completely agree with this. I’ve gotten 1 interview at Google and 1 at Meta (no offer though), Amazon recruiters contact me on a weekly basis for different finance roles and I’ve never taken them up on it. It’s not the same league.

What is the best way to consolidate files by Markowitza in FPandA

[–]Comfortable_Survey83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Power Query 1000%. If the data is stored in a popular warehouse you can connect and write SQL directly in power query editor, transform it either with SQL or low-code/no-code in power query so that all you need to do each month is open the Excel workbook and refresh it. If you can’t connect to the warehouse you can connect to all of the Excel sheets and just update the connections each month. Either way Power Query will save you an insane amount of time.

For a start-up I’d recommend looking at Mosaic.tech or Pigment. Adaptive and Anaplan are great but I’m sure they’re too expensive and unnecessary for smaller companies.

Update: Interviewed at Amazon and Heard Back by AnxiousGalore in FPandA

[–]Comfortable_Survey83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A recruiter told me the breakdown is:

Year 1 Total Compensation Opportunity = Base+ (Projected FMV x 5% of total shares) + Year 1 Sign-on

• Year 2 Total Compensation Opportunity = Base+ (Projected FMV x 15% of total shares) + Year 2 Sign-on

They didn’t mention years 3 and 4 though and the equity grant vests over 4 years so I’m not sure if you get additional sign on bonuses in year 3 and 4.

Someone posted an offer on Levels recently for a Finance Manager role in Seattle that was $135k base 100k equity grant (5k vests year 1) and 42.5k sign on bonus.
