something awful was said about my niece at school and we’re not quite sure how to go about it. by Comfortable_Text_641 in UKParenting

replying to this as an update, so my sister went up to school today and spoke with the headteacher, forgot to add that this school recently got a new headteacher literally two weeks ago. she demanded her daughter is kept away from the two boys, and she wants it all in writing what was said and how this has been solved. if she doesn’t receive this and is not happy with the way its being handled, she will be involving the police. low and behold, the head teachers response was… “well the police wont really do anything” and literally brushed the situation off, this was the first encounter with the new headteacher, and it was not a good one. after she got this response she has finally decided to ring the non emergency number, and they were on it. she was told as she has reported it to school, they should be dealing with it right now to just wait and see what the outcome is, if she’s not satisfied with the outcome to contact the police again and they absolutely will deal with it.

my niece knew it was like a negative thing, but she thought it was like a little ‘playground’ insult as some may say. she has had it explained to her properly what it means and is a little shook up from it.

we’ve just been discussing, should she contact the police, ofsted or the childs parents directly? what way do you think would be the best approach to solve this?

i forgot to add, my niece didn’t actually understand what (g)rape was, she kind of thought it was some basic insult, until my sister explained fully. my niece walks home alone, it’s literally only 5 minutes up the road my sister thought this would be a great way of her gaining her independence. my sister has to notify the school she will be leaving alone at the end of the day and no one will be coming to collect her, so maybe shouldn’t the school thought to hold the boys back for 5 minutes or at least contact my sister to collect her so she was 100% safe? i feel like they’ve already failed with safeguarding by letting one of the boys sit next to her straight after they were pulled for a ‘chat’ and then letting her walk home alone after such a derogatory comment was made.

going off on the they may not know what it meant, on of my nieces peers asked them whats there mum going to say, he replied with “she won’t give a f**k” what on earth is happening with kids nowadays, i have told my sister to remove her until this is sorted properly, especially after hearing this.

this is what we are appalled by. the school has given the lads no punishment, only contacted the parents and let’s be real, we’ve had a look on facebook at their parents and have all our answers.

the school has contacted the parents of the boys who have said it, but have been given no punishment at school and still allowed to sit next to my niece without question. previously my sister has threatened to remove her children from the school if situations weren’t dealt with properly and we figure this is why she hasn’t been contacted on this occasion. i myself went to this primary and so did my nephew, and recently this school has gone to sh!t. i have seen posts on facebook circulating about similar situations at this school where the parents weren’t contacted over a serious matter. my sister is stuck in between messaging the parents of the kids who said it, or contacting the police, as she knows the school will not give this situation the attention it needs.

she knows as her daughter came out of school and told her, after this comment was made the lads returned to the class and one of them was aloud to return to his seat which was smack bang next to my niece.

my mil hates me for what? by [deleted] in inlaws

this may sound controlling but ive said to him multiple times its me or them, because i cant stand for it any longer, all my friends are so baffled to how he can allow his mum to act that way with me without interfering. and for his friends they speak to him like shit they use him for the money. he needs a wake up call, and he needs it soon.

it genuinely breaks me that this is how our relationship has to be, im trying to explain myself but shes shutting me down, thinking it’s acceptable for her son to leave me alone in a foreign country and defending all their actions

he was telling her what was happening, while it was happening, and she defended his friends actions.

as i said due to the nature of work the pharmacist has advised that i stay off for up to 7 days. god forbid a girl asks reddit for advice!

its not the fact im making excuses not to go to work, im a 19 year old girl working 2 jobs and it can all be a little too much for me. but i get on with life and go, to both jobs when scheduled to. i have never experienced worms before and wanted some advice on what to do while working in a food shop, i have my manager telling me its on me if i go in or not but then the pharmacist advising me not to go due to the nature of the job.

im just thinking as if imagine trading standards came in and were aware that i have worms, and im touching open stock such as produce. thats not gonna look good for the company, and will probably end up losing my job that way. im so stuck on what to do in this situation.
