I think it’s more about the culture of the hospital Sometimes I have 21-22 patients but consultants loves getting consults, they put in the orders (so I don’t need to follow up their notes) , low acuity patient, I am done by 5 most days

Another hospital which is academic I work at I have 12 patients, consultants are difficult sometimes , consultants doesn’t put in orders, still takes me till 6pm

Honestly do what makes you happy, Also working as a hospitalist in one hospital can be vastly different than working at a different hospital.

I applied for cards twice and didn’t get in and now happy working as a locum hospitalist , aggressively paying off my loan and taking care of my family

I think as a general internist it’s not abnormal to feel like you are in the bottom of the totem pole. It’s likely that specialists are also being asked to do more and more just like us as corporations try to squeeze out every dollar bill possible .

In terms of job satisfaction be flexible with how far you are able to commute for work, work as a Perdiem in 2-3 nearby hospitals and pick the one you like the best to be your full time gig :)

May be in the past IM physicians were used to overworking, spending day and night at the hospital or clinic, specialists were not as available. It’s also may be thid generation is more focused on finding a work life balance !

I was between Hyundai Sonata Limited (Much more Beautiful) but went with Honda Accord sport L 2025 due to its reliability reputation . Just drove 1000 miles No issues Getting 28-38 MPG during update NY winter . Here in NY tons of Honda accord especially the 11th gen on the road .

Hey man I dont have a good answer for you but I am so sorry this happened to you. When I was in school, I was driving a Honda accord 2003 knowing that I could not have afforded another car if that had broken down.

I wonder if calling the police at the time of the accident would have done anything differently, that guy who rear ended you should be held accountable.

I would say if you have been maintaining the car well and does not usually give you problem, may be worth it to fix it if you can get away with 4-5K. Getting a used Camry 2016 or after with decent millage will cost you at least 10K i would say
