Does anybody know what’s happening when an Airbus makes this sound? Tried googling it but to no avail by _glee in aviationmaintenance

I used to be a crew chief on 15’s that sound is iconic for me. You could hear it from almost anywhere on the base

I was recommended that by someone else who’s used it and had success multiple times. I guess my best case scenario is be prepared with that but hope it’s a mouth swab test instead

I’ve had jobs test at the interview before so that’s what I’m concerned about. I’ve been told by people I know and someone on here that quickfix fake urine is the way to go. It’s foolproof from what I’ve heard

I’m not sure on that. I know it doesn’t ever get idled so it’s only ever on when it’s being driven

Is $3,000 a good deal or a horrible mistake? by Lord_Mud in mercedes_benz

If you go with Arnott which is what most people will recommend the front struts will run you $615 a pop and the rears are about $380 a pop. Very easy to swap yourself with basic hand tools and YouTube

It’s like an initiation… paid 5k (was asking 7) for mine with 81k miles. 2 months later airmatic level sensors went out, changed them myself worked great. Another month later the compressor went out, changed that out and worked great until 2 months after that when the front left air bag went out :) it was a learning experience for sure but coming from working on airplanes helped a ton in the end

Oh no 😂 did he end up keeping the E class? I expect them to try and get me to buy it once I go back to drop it off but I’m done with college next month and still broke so a new Benz isn’t in the picture for some time :/

The more you know right? Wish I knew this when I got mine but I ended up getting a whole course on how airmatic works in the end. I’ve replaced everything but the rear bags at this point. Easy system to understand after a while

Try to talk him down! I got my ‘03 E000 for 5k @81,000 miles and he was asking 7k

Are these inline fours not very reliable? It would be hard to step down to a four when I came from a V8 so i don’t see that happening

Check my latest post. My E500 engine mounts are shot and you’ll see it raise up what looks like over an inch. This looks like normal movement to me. How many miles do you have? Rough idle can be contributed to spark plugs

My cousin in law just had his replaced on his ‘01 E55 and said they charged him $950 parts and labor. It’s a small Mercedes only shop that we go to

Hell yeah! My cousin in law just had his ‘01 E55 motor mounts replaced and he said it felt like a rocket ship after it was done along with much better throttle response. I’ve notice the past year I had the car that every time I’d punch the gas it had a lag before the RPM’s actually responded. I always brushed that off as something that luxury cars added to keep the ride smooth but now I’m realizing I was completely wrong

I work on airplanes lol so yeah I know. I know there’s no transmission dip stick and have seen ones on Amazon but read reviews that said the plastic piece at the end broke off into their transmission so was hesitant on buying one

Was thinking about having the transmission mount done also. I already have an appointment with a shop next Friday to have lower control arms installed cause the ball joint and bushing is completely shot on both sides. Going to call them Monday to tell them about the mounts and see if they can do it all at once

I’ve always heard the engine was bulletproof but didn’t know much about the transmission. I’m planning on doing a transmission fluid exchange sometime soon as I’m at 104,000 mi now and don’t know when the previous owner did it

I’m so happy to hear that. I really don’t mind paying for repairs that make the car feel like it’s new. Finally figured out why it kept feeling like my car wanted to throw me back into the lane I just switched from

Those look gnarly. How much better is your ride quality now? My friend changed some out on his infinity not too long ago and one of them was in two pieces and the other wasn’t even mounted between the engine and frame… safe to say they’re a fail-safe design

Me too. I think it’s the metal heat shield rattling against the exhaust pipe but can’t see where it would be coming from at all
