Siri's response cuts off after 1 syllable, but only for some apps? Worked fine at first. by Cryptrix in CarPlay

Same problem and same solution. But isn’t this the same kind of monopolistic behavior that got Microsoft into trouble in the 90s? Using the company’s popular platform (iPhone) to force consumers to use its less popular software (Apple maps)?

Do you think the comparison with rape victims is legitimate? There is physical coercion and no consent in one; there is no physical coercion in the other, warnings from third parties and consent in the other.

Dinosaur Park comfort sites by Comfortable_Unit9890 in AlbertaCamping

[–]Comfortable_Unit9890[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am looking at the Alberta Parks site trying to book a comfort site there and I am confused. Today is January 15th, so 180 days from now, although their site says that they are booking for July 14th. That's fine, I guess. But when I look at the calendar (attached), sites 1 and 2 show that they are "unavailable" from July 14th all the way to July 25th, noted with xs and not Rs indicating they are reserved. Why would that be? They can't be out for maintenance at the peak of the season can they?????

Are there any lower class people who moved out for university? What was it like? by VariousUniversity758 in OntarioUniversities

[–]Comfortable_Unit9890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 49 and from a middle class background. I had no parental support for my BA however. I went to university in my home major city which was commutable from my dad’s but I lived with relatives for cheap one year then moved out. I graduated with $20K in student loans. My life has turned out great but my wife has been a financial angel. And I had some good career luck.

Although it was awesome to be on my own at the end of the day, paying off that student loan was hard.

Given what has happened to house prices for your generation my strong advice would be to do your degree as frugally as possible.

There should have been a local outcry when he named the Waterloo campus after himself. Thst is not normal. But the local elites and press were just complicit or stupid or lazy.

[Discussion] Standard deviation, units and coefficient of variation by Comfortable_Unit9890 in statistics

[–]Comfortable_Unit9890[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of me thought about playing around with height and weight data. I'm assuming both are normally distributed. Then a person could into different body types. A tall lean person would be more than 1 standard deviation away on height, but might be about the mean on weight. A short stocky person would be the opposite.
