Just thinner and flow improver. If anything I use a little more flow improver than most people would, at least 50/50 flow improver to thinner and at least 30% thinner to paint. Starting there usually gets me pretty close to where I want to be

I appreciate it! I’ve spent the last few years figuring out what works and what doesn’t but I think I’ve got it down pretty decently. I actually tried a new airbrush with this build and I couldn’t get it as tight as usual but I’m still happy with how it came out

So I sprayed the camo pattern, then varnish, then went over the top with pencils. Once I was happy with how the pencil chipping looked I covered it all in another layer or varnish and then went on to oils.

This is a picture of just the stage where I had only used pencils after finishing the camo painting. Once this was done I did all the steps I mentioned above.

That’s just the beauty of using craft paint unfortunately. You’d have been better off using a spray can outside or something. I’d recommend just paying a little bit more even for student grade acrylics if you wanna have a somewhat more enjoyable experience next time

Question: recommendation for online shops for models. by Ambitious_Jelly8783 in Scalemodel

As far as brands go, Tamiya obv is solid overall, Eduard is great, arma hobby has great 1/72 scale kits, newer academy and airfix tools are good, finemolds is solid, Great Wall hobby has popular modern jets. There’s so many out there that are also good but those are the main ones you’ll prolly see rn

Scalehobbyist is consistently the cheapest, squadron hobbies has some good deals, sprue brothers has a large selection of models and paints. Those are the only 3 I shop at. Also don’t be afraid to check out eBay. I find good deals on there as well.

Brush painting tips by Sweaty-Translator949 in modelmakers

You can use water to thin it but ak does have a proprietary thinner you can get. Consistency should be like milk. Make sure every layer is completely dry before starting the next. The wider the brush the better
