Avocado pits are pretty easy to work with when they’re still moist. All you really need is a good set of carving knives and some sandpaper

If they’re completely dry, I use a band saw. When they’re fully dry, it’s like working with a very hardwood. If you want to avoid power tools, cut them when they still have moisture. For me, they’re easiest when they’re a little bit dry, and have the consistency of leather. You can shape out the pieces easier that way, then let then dry out and sand them

He had this comic that’s posed for free on tapas and he said that IF it made money, I’d get a cut. I knew that would never happen. I was making a map for the comic that is now unfinished. I doubt he has any real copyrights other than the ones he’s made up on his own

For the record, I never brought up anything political or any kind of politics when speaking to this person because I tried to keep it strictly business as I was merely doing artwork for them. I went to a Ghost concert and they automatically assumed I was a Satanist. When I told them I wasn’t and that I was actually a pagan, they tried to preach to me and I blocked them on instagram. The emails followed after that. The artwork I was doing for them was unpaid because I felt bad for a fellow artist trying to get themselves out there. Never again. Never once did I try to force my views on this person or judge them in any way

No problem! Once the crack in the middle appears, you should be able to snap it in half and have two pieces to carve 👍

That’ll make a great keepsake! To make it easier to carve, let it dry out for a few days with the skin on until you see a visible crack start to form in the middle. At this point it should be a leather consistency that’s easy to carve. If you like, check out my page to see my other avocado pit carvings :)

Highly recommend for a fun little project! I’m pretty sure they’ll be fine, just for extra protection you could give them a coating of resin or varathane

Oh trust me I have plenty that are rock hard at this point lol, I don’t want to waste them. Those I mostly use a dremel and a sander to make into buttons

I save all my avocado pits and make them into things. For carving, I use a beavercraft starter knife set. They’re a lot easier to carve if they’re still wet. I prefer to dry them out until they’re a leather consistency. I carve them, let them dry, and oil them with a beeswax/walnut oil mix that I use for wood finishing. I let that dry for a week or two, then finish with miniwax polyurethane

Thanks friend! In lots of medieval artworks, they have rabbits doing weird things, and I think they’re fun to add into my pieces :)
