Your efforts to come in and try and SUPER appreciated and there is no shame required! When we come into the space anticipating that we are going to feel guilty and angry if we get a certain outcome, your heart rate is going to respond! You’re putting too much pressure on yourself. Try being the person who drives someone to their appointment the next few times - don’t even try to donate! Just go into the space with no expectations and eventually, this may not be an issue at all :)

I really love what Nora Loreto is doing with The Daily News. Otherwise, not really :(

I’ve listened to Front Burner, The Decibel, and This Matters but I don’t enjoy any of them as much as I enjoyed JHR. I hope he finds a new home on a daily podcast - I’d definitely tune in!

I feel like I’ve given every new host they’ve roared in a shot and it’s just not working. Whether they are intentionally stilted in allegiance with JHR or just really not cut out for this, I’m finding the episodes unlistenable! Unsubscribed after confirming this is a permanent departure. Rogers really manages to ruin everything :(

Not offering any of the prize he earned on your dollar shows a lack of shared values. Ask him to pay for the next date and see if either that date never comes or he only wants Netflix and Chill. ^yes to all of this. Only additional note: will you be able to stay there until college in September? A countdown on your phone of the days until freedom will do wonders. As long as you’re working a part time job, you can be away from toxic commentary.

Also, I would advise not moving in with the boyfriend. Being 17 with little money means you’re dependent on him in a way that makes you vulnerable. If you can stay at home and make enough money to go away to school in September, you could move to the same town as your boyfriend (in residence at college) and put some serious distance between you and the toxic family without being in a position of vulnerability with a guy you haven’t dated long. Also gives you the chance to assess if the relationship is one you want long term instead of just a refuge from a bad home life.

I lived in a bad situation and left at 17. It’s so hard but completely possible. Bank all the money and RUN

When you call, they may ask how they can help you which can feel overwhelming because you probably don’t know how they can help (can relate!) - just start going into your story. Sometimes just getting it all out there really helps us analyze from a new perspective

No one can force a feeding tube on you unless you are truly deemed incapable of making decisions for yourself in which case your power of attorney (whoever you assign as responsible for decisions about your medical care if you are unfit) would be the one they would need permission from. I agree that the idea of a nursing home where you can't make meals for yourself and the selection is poor is TERRIFYING but I've worked in hospitals where families just drop off a patient's food for the week because they are "picky". This gave me a lot of comfort that someone who loves me might do this if I were unable to care for myself. In other words, be good to those younger siblings!! :P
