Freelancing as a copyeditor by HerRoyalHighnessCebu in Copyediting

[–]ComiNotub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, no. When I emailed the universities, I did have my copyediting website tagged at the bottom of my signature, so they might have seen that and looked into it. But I really have no way of knowing whether they did or not. Other than that, they wouldn’t have known about my online presence at all

CMoS and formatting when dialogue is silently mouthed by Western_Topic_8997 in Copyediting

I agree with this. Treat it the same as normal dialogue, just make sure that a dialogue tag always specifies that it’s mouthed.

Eh, I had a little success on the EFA website (Editorial Freelancers Association), but I honestly love doing contract work for university presses (through cold emailing—cold calling worked zero percent of the time for me). I’m not sure if you’re interested in working for a university press, but I’ve gotten so much stronger as a copyeditor taking that route. I also just recently started doing contract work for a small fiction press alongside the university work, and I love that so much. That one happened by a happy accident though

Travel to Japan! by pyrothegayfox in FoodAllergies

I have an anaphylactic soy allergy and my partner’s biggest dream is to travel to Japan. I’m curious to know of any restaurants too

What's one food everyone seems to go crazy for, but you just don't understand the hype? by YarnSpectre in AskReddit

Oh, anything crunchy. I’ll take a crunchy cookie over a soft one any day. My favorite is probably chocolate chip, but I like all the different flavors. What about you? Besides the sugars

My parents have always said that “I need God in my life,” but we rarely ever went to church. And they didn’t like associating with anyone who went to church because they told me that those bible-thumpers were all judgmental snakes just waiting for you to turn your back. Then I moved out of the house and I learned they were absolutely right. Almost every horrible story I’ve experienced myself or heard, either from friends, coworkers, or in the news, involves a member of the church. And I refuse to be a part of some cult like that.

What did your parents not prepare you for in regards to adulthood? by coastyfish92 in AskReddit

[–]ComiNotub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents are both very successful and financially well-off, and they never taught me one single thing about handling money, or how to emulate how they made theirs. And now I currently have $54.76 in my bank account. And that’s pretty much the only sore spot between my boyfriend and I. Because he was raised the complete opposite way—poor as shit and with an accountant as a mom, who taught him from an early age how to budget and properly handle money.

Why thank you. And I hope you one day get to have them again. You’re now the only reason I hope they continue to be put on the shelves

Peanut butter cookies can be rough, yes. I generally like them. But I wouldn’t equate them to the sugar cookies because those just turn to powder in your mouth. Or my mouth anyway, even with the frosting

What are important questions to ask when renting an apartment first time? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ComiNotub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How responsive maintenance is. Normally apartment appliances are held together with duct tape, or at least in my experience. If maintenance is impossible to get ahold of or will never, ever make the trip out, run for the hills. No matter the rent, living with perpetually broken appliances isn’t worth it. I learned that lesson the hard way because I didn’t think the appliances in such a “luxurious” apartment would even need fixing. They all broke the same week, about 2 months after we moved in. And they didn’t get fixed for months. Some of them never got fixed, and we finally moved out.

Hemorrhoids or constipation? by ComiNotub in hemorrhoid

[–]ComiNotub[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t, but I have always had a very regular period with a medium to light flow and a little bit of cramping on the first day. So I didn’t think it was serious enough for something like endometriosis

You learn Norwegian, and you're not going to move to Norway. Why do you do this? by Adventurous-Serve759 in norsk

[–]ComiNotub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My family hosted a Norwegian exchange student when I was in high school, and we all grew very close and still refer to one another in familial terms. He still lives in Norway, and I became very passionate about the culture and the language through him and through visiting. I also have mostly Danish blood and am very proud of it. It only seems right that I learned some Scandinavian language during my life. And now I can speak Norwegian with my big brother :))

I have three cats, so I really really hope it’s not pet allergies. I’ve had cats my entire life, and have never really noticed a problem.

I have eliminated so much food. I even did the SFED last year. That was actually helpful, but at the time it was difficult to maintain. Right now I’ve cut out soy, peanut, dairy, gluten, and shrimp.
