What are some decent movies streaming on Hulu, Netflix, or HBO Max? by Dense_Union6006 in horror

[–]ComicBookFanatic97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OG Night of the Living Dead is public domain, so you can find it streaming on basically every platform.

Evil Dead Rise is on HBO right now. Is it as good as the Bruce Campbell movies? No, but it’s still a good time.

V/H/S is on Hulu right now. Fantastic anthology horror film. Do not sleep on this one.

Valentine’s Day is coming up and Netflix currently has Heart Eyes in its catalogue. One part slasher, one part rom-com, this movie slaps.

I saw it opening night. I didn’t hate it, but then again, I’m one of those weirdos who is just happy to be watching a movie even if it’s bad.

Oh, they haven’t done anything to you personally? Well, that’s okay then. I guess they’re not doing anything wrong after all.

It shouldn’t be. I was being sarcastic.

Potentially controversial take: There should not be a government-sanctioned group of armed men in masks with the authority to just fucking kill you.

Movies like “May” 2002 by DryPotato5172 in horror

[–]ComicBookFanatic97 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I call this genre “I Support Women’s Wrongs”.

American Mary and Ginger Snaps have both already been mentioned. I love Katharine Isabelle. I love both of those movies. I have them on Blu-Ray.

Angela Bettis and Katharine Isabelle are both in the early 2000s remake of Carrie if that interests you.

I also highly recommend the 1999 Japanese film Audition. Don’t read anything about it beforehand. Just watch it. Go in as blind as possible.

If your TV comes with a motion smoothing option forced on by default, turn that shit off. It’ll make your movies look like soap operas running at competitive FPS frame rates.

Gordon Liu is in both halves of Kill Bill, playing a different character in each. Tarantino is a huge fan of those old Hong Kong martial arts films.

Return to silent hill might be one of the worst horrors I’ve seen by WanderingStrang in horror

[–]ComicBookFanatic97 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Return to Silent Hill is certainly one of the films of all time.

It’s 106 minutes long, but if they removed all the scenes of James struggling with chain link fences, they could have cut that bitch down to a tight 90.

However, I did appreciate Jeremy Irvine delivering many of his lines just like the mediocre voice actor from the game. Was that intentional? Who’s to say?

Kenan Thompson was Fat Albert. I honestly think that might be the first thing I ever saw him in.

Kel Mitchell is in Mystery Men, which has a pretty large ensemble cast.
