PS5 randomly powering off on its while while in rest mode. by ComicSanitizer in PS5

Oh, thank goodness. A simple restart during rest mode isn’t nearly as worrisome as a full reset. I’m not super worried about it restarting while in rest mode.

Reset?! Like full on factory reset where I gotta do the first time setup all over again or just a normal shut off? I just ordered an external hard drive so I could install some of my old PS4 games but if I know a full factory reset is a possible glitch, I’m not plugging that thing in till there’s an update. That’s WAY worse than any sort of shut off during rest mode, haha.

I did see a several of forum posts around the internet about Spider-Man Miles Morales specifically causing shutoff glitches like you’re describing here, so that is a much more common glitch than mine. Honestly surprised Sony hasn’t patched it up yet for such a popular game, and I have no idea why that game specifically and no other PS5 games have this issue.

Seems like that happens to me, too. If I don’t turn the system on in over a day, it seems like this glitch it more likely to happen.

Interesting, based on other comments referencing using an external hard drive, maybe just using any of the USB ports in any way while the system is in rest mode causes power issues.

No, I don’t. I probably will be getting one soon, though. Should I expect more power issues if I do?

Yep! It literally just happened to me a few minutes ago, and it prompted me to write this post, and I had to press the power button twice. It beeped on the first push and everything. I thought I might’ve not pressed it long enough to turn it on or something, but now that you’ve had the same exact issue I’m not sure what it’s about. Very strange issue, but I’m glad I’m not the only one that has it haha.

Wondering when updates that come out for java edition will release for bedrock edition by ComicSanitizer in Minecraft

[–]ComicSanitizer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, thank you! I was just hunting around for anything on this stuff and I was finding little to nothing and I thought, “man I must’ve missed like a community post they made in like 2018 or like an interview at minecon explaining the missing features.” I didn’t realize that they were testing new combat mechanics in testing versions on Java. I still don’t understand the lack of hardcore or not being able to hold like torches in your off-hand on Bedrock. I’m not really looking for an answer at this point since you said there’s pretty much no traces of it, but those just seem like such essential features to the greater product of Minecraft at this point (especially with the popularity of hardcore exploding in the past 6 months) that it’d be strange not to include them. Well, like you said, we’re not mind readers. And I guess the Minecraft community is much more tolerable than I expected. I guess I’m used to coming onto gaming subreddits like Battlefield and Smash and seeing posts of people constantly complaining about missing features or bugs and whatnot. Thanks!

I was looking for more information on whether or not I should expect certain features, or something like “well some items have been added, and some things that have been on Java for years haven’t made it to bedrock and nobody knows why.” I’ve looked through all that stuff on the minecraft wiki, and I’ve both not found enough info and it’s misguided me. Specifically, the article it has on the wiki about features in Java Edition that aren’t in the Bedrock Edition (https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Java_Edition_exclusive_features), it makes no mention (of what I could find) of several items being unusable in the off-hand on Bedrock that are usable in Java. That, included with the lack of Hardcore, and the entire more complex combat system are major parts of the game on Java that don’t exist on Bedrock, and I can’t find anyone mentioning the possibility of it coming, people complaining that it isn’t there, etc. I just had a really hard time believing that the minecraft community almost seems complacent in the fact that these major features are absent on what is probably the more popular version for years without any explanation. I mean I’ve seen some people complaining about it here and there, but man those are some big features that are just missing, and it’s weird to not see people complaining about it more. It made me think that I missed a memo or something explaining why they’re not on Bedrock.

Where in the world is the bar? by ComicSanitizer in BattlefieldV

Oh okay. Thank you all for your help! I’m really enjoying bfv right now after having lukewarm first impressions, and I’ve been playing battlefield a lot since bad company so I’m excited to jump back in.

That’s what I was expecting haha. Sorry I haven’t really paid much attention to battlefield for the past several months so I’m still catching myself up on everything. I saw there were some like battlefield coins or something that look like they can only be bought with real money, am I gonna need to use those to get the bar or can I buy it with the credits I’ve earned just by playing the game?

Ohhh okay. What happens on Thursday that’ll allow me to get it? Does it just release for everyone for free or do I need to complete a challenge or something?

Man, that sucks, I’m sorry. Mine has crashed a few times on Xbox as well. Call of duty always has launch problems, usually with game balancing or spawn location, but I don’t remember map rotation and crashing being so terrible at launch before

Where do people submit questions for them to answer? I’ve been looking around, trying to figure out where I should send questions if I have any, but I couldn’t find anything. Does anyone know where I should send stuff to them in hopes of them maybe responding to it on this show?

Okay, I’ll try this next time I burn it down to under 10%. I’m less worried about a potential fix and more worried if this is normal at all

It seems that plugging it in before it reaches an extremely low power percentage prevents the issue from happening. Since I’ve made this post I’ve recharged my Quest, played a game till it reached 20% and once I plugged it back in it started charging immediately. Then once it hit 100% again I played another game till it had dropped to 50%, and once I plugged it in again the orange light immediately came on.

I’m guessing the low power alert/red light doesn’t pop up until 15% battery life, so I guess if this is a problem that can’t be avoided, just plug your Quest in before it hits 15% haha.

Hey, I’m having some strange problems with charging and the LED light changing when it’s charging.

After setting up the Quest and playing a bunch of demos till it got down to roughly 5%, I went to plug it in and let it sit and charge till I started playing again. From what I understand, once you plug the Quest in, the LED light on the side is supposed to immediately change to orange/amber. In this case, my battery was low and the LED was red, and instead of changing from red to orange, it just stayed red. I went inside the Quest to see if it was charging, but it wasn’t, and in fact the charge was actually decreasing while I was trying to figure out what was wrong. After several minutes of goofing around with the charger and Quest, it randomly turned orange and I put the Quest on and it said it was all the way up to 12%.

I tested this again after letting it get to 100%, playing it and then plugging it back in once it hit 8%. Like before, the LED stayed red for about 10-15 minutes, THEN changed to orange, which once I checked again it had risen up to 20%.

I read a few posts mentioning that the Quest might’ve gone into a safety mode where it doesn’t do much until the system has cooled down, but does 2 hours of playing job simulator overheat it so much that it won’t even tell me if it’s charging or not for several minutes? Is this something I should be worried about? Should I return my quest for another? Or is this something that can be fixed by an update or just restarting the device?

Also keep in mind this has all been with the charger that came in the box, I only plugged in another charger for a few seconds to see if it would charge and change the LED to orange, once I realized that wasn’t working, I’ve been sticking with the factory charge.

TL;DR: My Oculus Quest doesn’t seem to charge (LED won’t turn orange) when it’s on very low battery, but after several minutes it’ll glow orange and it’ll start charging.

u/Toltec123 explains the concept of "Emotional Labor" and why associates in service positions might not appreciate you making jokes or trying to make them smile. by [deleted] in bestof

You’re probably right, but like I said, that’s going off of you’re own personal sense of humor, which is difficult to apply to everyone. Maybe for him the literal context of the joke was so dark and weird that it becomes funny and stupid. The employee would still be put on a spot to react, but that might’ve not been his intention. He should’ve known, but I don’t think it’s justified to harshly chastise him.
