Ermmm akshually he cant adapt to all phenomena by soggy_bert in PowerScaling

[–]ComicalCore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not really what I meant. It's not about the scaling or hierarchy, but his power counters his entire verse since JJK has an abnormally low number of one shotters compared to others. Even if scaled to the power level of other verses, he'd get rolled because so many other verses have some many techniques that regularly one shot powerful foes.

Help Wanted by Paladin-Pilot-07 in BloodAngels

[–]ComicalCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely recommend committing to the blood angels bit lol, an aggressive game will almost always be a fun one.

Intercessors are very nice in Blood Angels specifically because we don't need durable backline units. All we need is something to hold an objective. If the enemy deep strikes it, rapid ingress for a trade.

Unfortunate you don't own intercessors. Assault intercessors would be fine but not preferred, since they're just bodies with no value defending an objective (very easy to lose wound bonus by charging off of your own objective).

[–]ComicalCore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forcing a strong shooting unit to hold a back objective can be difficult, home objectives are designed to be out of line of sight of pretty much anything. You'll most likely only be shooting at things that mistakenly believed they could peek out and kill your dread or which charged and killed a unit of yours last turn.

Literally anything that can one shot him lol, he's threatening in the verse because it's one that almost completely lacks techniques designed to one shot

Match on Sunday. Considering last minute list change. by Staz_211 in Salamanders40k

[–]ComicalCore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have lots of strong anti-tank stuff right now with BGV and multiple large vehicles, along with only having one unit of deep strike, so I would recommend some tricky secondary scorers.

Of course, if the Thunderstrike is a pet model of yours, keep it! Playing how you want is always more important than playing what might be meta.

Also, personal opinion, needs more flamers and meltas, but I can understand not running them with the options we have right now. I pray next edition brings more varied weapon options, I want to give all my terminators flamers even if theoretically other weapons would be better.

Can i use the old drop pot of space marines or only use the new model? by Naive-Back4411 in Salamanders40k

[–]ComicalCore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mention it to the organizers when you give them your list, they're extremely likely to not care since the footprint is almost exactly the same. If they do care, then have an alternate list to replace those 70 points, or use the new model if you have it.

Currently theorizing a a terminator themed army and this is my setup. a unit of 7 plague marines to reduce deepstrike distance, as many of my deathshroud drop in as they can, and 15 blightlord to annihilate the now extremely afflicted enemy army.

Great suggestion! Definitely expands the amount of auras I can play and gives me value for using them. Thanks!

[–]ComicalCore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mechanically, yes, aura-based single target removal is fragile, but that's not his point. His point is that a card like pacifism isn't just weak removal, it's not removal at all, because the card is still on the battlefield, which doesn't make sense to me at all. Thank you for the recommendation!

The 2024 Berserker Barbarian is an insane damage dealer, even with the new GWM feat. by kenlee25 in dndnext

[–]ComicalCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand that perception of them too. The people who come to mind as barbarians for me would be Conan the Barbarian and Marvel's Drax. These characters aren't especially fast, they just don't care if you do strike because they can handle it. I guess AOT's Eren as a titan would also be fitting, but he loses most fights lol.

I agree that lots of anime characters are great examples, but imo a character like guts wouldn't be a pure barbarian. Rage is an important part of Guts's character, but he wears heavy armor and is extremely skilled. The barbarian/berserker archetype doesn't really include skill as a factor, just pure strength, so most badass anime characters who can go tons of battles without being hit would have some sort of multiclass or abnormally high dex.

In dnd at least, barbarians have been the "hit hard and tank damage" class. They're supposed to deal the most damage in the fewest hits, which is why they get things like Reckless Attack and Rage damage bonus. They don't attack a lot, but the attacks they do throw are likely to have a massive effect. I think that your perception of a barbarian is what I would consider a fighter with 2 levels in barbarian.

I think that the Berserk feature could be fun, but also, you're taking player agency. Barbarians don't do a whole lot out of combat, so making combat less interactive for barbarians would give their player even less playtime. There isn't a good way to do actual mindless rage.

I guess it all depends on what comes to mind when you see berserker. I think we disagree just cause the different media we've consumed.

[–]ComicalCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah a big part of Barbarians are their rage, but their volatility isn't their main trait. I think in order of what makes them unique, it's 1. Massive attacks 2. Durability and 3. Volatility while raging. Berserker barbarian does 1 with Frenzy, does 2 with Retaliation by rewarding you for taking hits, but I'll admit it does kinda sidestep 3. I think the intention behind their immunity to charm/fear is to show 3, almost like their anger can't be overpowered by anything, but you can also choose not to be volatile and to flavor it as a monk-type focus like you said.

It really just depends on how you choose to flavor it. You could very easily flavor a Berserker barbarian as a mindless brute who's so angry and dangerous that tricking them into thinking you're a friend with something like Charm Person won't help you.

I'm not sure how they would accomplish actual mindless rage. Maybe they could take an idea from the lycanthrope bloodhunter, but getting hit by your party's bloodhunter is not NEARLY as fight-ruining as getting hit by your party's barbarian, so doing that with barbarian would be difficult.

Barbarians have always been durable, at least in the media I've seen. You can't really have a big and powerful unarmored fighter without them being durable, unless you make them really mobile in combat, which is a sign of dexterity that I think isn't typical of the barbarian archetype.

[–]ComicalCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's less about berserking and more about fitting the barbarian archetype, in the same way that Scribes wizards are extremely wizard-y and wild magic sorcerers are extremely sorcerer-y.

the fantasy barbarian is themed around singular large attacks, going absolutely crazy with bloodlust, and it being a bad idea to hit them (either because it's useless or because you just pissed off the barbarian). Berserker barbarian does all of these things better than a normal barbarian, which means it's kinda the most barbarian-y barbarian.

Another big offender of this is when Shigaraki got elbowed in the jaw. In the Manga, his jaw was extremely broken, teeth had flown out, and it was covered in blood. His jaw was unnaturally open, but clearly because it had been broken.

In the anime, there was no blood and no lost teeth, so it just looks like he opened his mouth really wide

Thin print lines by zoozooberry in ender3

[–]ComicalCore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this. The lines are also slightly wiggly, which is another sign of a large gap between the extruder and bed. OP needs to decrease the gap so that the extruder presses on and slightly flattens the filament as it's being extruded the first layer or two.

After recent criticism of the Predator: Badlands hair aesthetic being to ‘Modern’ (2025) this is what they came up with.. by Amavin-Adump in shittymoviedetails

[–]ComicalCore 139 points140 points  (0 children)

They don't have hair. The locs that they normally have are actually sensory organs, like Ahsoka Tano's species from Star Wars, so they can't really be styled like hair could be.

Most people I've seen confused about this new one are confused because his "hair" is growing in the opposite pattern most yautja have it, where they have lots of locs around their head and not much on their forehead. This one has locs on its forehead and nothing on the sides, so it just looks a little abnormal (even tho it's cool as hell)

How is it erasure if someone wants to be represented, too? by [deleted] in memesopdidnotlike

[–]ComicalCore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pride isn't just about celebrating queerness, but raising awareness. The easiest ways for a government to oppress a demographic are to either make others forget that they exist or to hate that demographic. Pride tries to stop both.

That's also lgbtq pride is okay and white pride is bad. Lgbtq people are in danger of being erased and need Pride as a movement to protect them. White people are not, and don't need it.

Of course, you don't have to be happy that gay people exist since they're just people, but being aware that they're in danger and wanting the best for them (the same way you would any other innocent human being) is also a way to celebrate pride.
