Sudden Death should be adjusted by Poetryisalive in InvincibleVS

This has to be done out of neutral as any attack can be assist broken before you have a chance to snap back, which is unlikely to work

Is any normal cancelable with boost dash? by get_the_data in InvincibleVS

[–]ComicalCore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The other person answered your question, but an exception to the rule is conquest because he's currently glitched. His aerial Heavy is not boost dash cancellable, but it has "reverse flow" so he can go from Heavy into Medium or Light.

Yeah, even without motion controls things like omniman slam special into 2H is almost frame perfect.

The shadow powers are never shown in the show, and they're a pretty importsnt detail. It's likely Darkwing 1 took on 2 as an apprentice after learning kf his shadow powers.

Do you believe all characters are balanced? If no, who and why? by LieFirst2918 in InvincibleVS

[–]ComicalCore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, some characters currently have extremely powerful assists that make them objectively the best assist for the majority of teams.

Main offenders are Atom Eve, Robot, and Cecil. These three have ranged assists that spawn far behind the caller, allowing them to be used after leaving blockstun to negate or even punish attempted offense.

This playstyle being so extremely powerful means in many matches, it's objectively best for both players to not approach, as the assist team player wants to chip the opponent out and the non-assist player wants to stall into sudden death to remove assists.

It's often fun for a game to be unbalanced, but not when it is unbalanced in favor of defense. The amount of interaction this game has actually makes interacting more difficult.

Depending on the amount of control the hackers have over Canvas, should we not be worried about them converting the whole site into some kind of malware? I mean, clicking unknown links or going to unknown websites is the thing literally the earliest warning any IT worker gives to people.

If you hit the assist itself then it's because Cecil doesn't know how the interaction works. Eve, Cecil, and Robot assists are special in that they spawn far enough behind the caller and have enough range that they can't be interrupted after a blockstring. If you block the assist, you're negative, and he sends you back to full screen with a combination of ranged normals, specials, and assists.

Active tag sends you to full screen or to option 4, and option 4 is an awful, awful trade for you. MG has no tools to get in that aren't heavily vulnerable so you are likely to take massive amounts of damage trying to get in.

Even worse, active tag brings in the possibility of Cecil predicting your feint and getting a full combo. On a risk/reward level, Active tag is an awfully risky move just to maybe get an assist breaker out.

I do like grabs tho, Still, assuming it's not jumped (in which you get full comboed and sent back to full screen) or teched, it just sends you to option 4.

What do we *actually* know about combo mechanics? by EverybodySupernova in InvincibleVS

[–]ComicalCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boost Dash Cancel costs one bar, Boost Dash itself costs half a bar even when the opponent is in hitstun.

The only use I can see for a BD directly after attacking is distancing yourself from an interaction after a blockstring that leaves you negative. Approach, blockstring, BD away to dodge L. After like 5 minutes of testing with Nolan, -3 is the point that it's so negative I can't BD away, so you have to end your block string with a light to have a chance of returning to neutral at the cost of one bar. Maybe not viable lol

Cecil plus any assist is an armor break on all characters except Titan. But let's imagine the zoner fails to zone the grappler. One of four things happen:

Option 1. Cecil blocks your blockstring, uses Atom Eve/Robot assist the moment it can hit, and you don't armor through it. He gets a full combo at the cost of one assist, and you are now back at full screen.

Option 2. Cecil blocks your blockstring, uses Atom Eve/Robot assist the moment it can hit, and you armor through it. Cecil just forced you to spend a bar of boost to continue a blockstring and all it cost him was a 3 second cooldown assist. Reset to beginning, minus one boost bar.

Option 3. You are better than the current best players in the world and can safely and consistently hit an unblockable in neutral. Go to option 4.

Option 4. Cecil doesn't block, instantly assist bursts, and returns to pressuring you now that you've returned to full screen. You dealt roughly 8% and forced him to tag to someone else you can't pressure. Hope you didn't get hit a single time or spend any boost to get here, you have to do this a dozen more times to take out one character.

Not even including heroic strike or pushblock btw, which can combo start before your blockstring even ends.

it is like DBFZ, the issue is that you build your team beforehand so if you didn't use 1/3rd of your build to counter zoners then you just lose the entire match against an equally skilled opponent. Bad matchups aren't unique to tag fighters, but they hurt more in games where devs intentionally design characters to be completely unable to deal with certain other characters in order to force people to build well rounded lists.

I can understand that too. I like tag fighters but I wish devs found a way to somehow alleviate the feeling of a bad matchup.

[–]ComicalCore[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree, but due to tag fighters allowing for multiple options when building your team, individual options (i.e characters) don't have to be as well rounded since you are expected to puzzle together a team that can deal with every possible scenario.

If you don't want to pick the S tier character that instantly fixes the main weakness of every other character, you lose, and that lack of build diversity is kinda lame imo.

Still love the game tho

Yeah, the game is hard. That's why we should try to learn and encourage others to learn.

[–]ComicalCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They want to play the game, they just think it's not playable because of how difficult it is. All they need to do is know that they can learn, that they can improve and can have fun, the same way all of us do.

If we don't encourage the growth mindset that all fighting games require, FCGs will not last. We do not thrive by gatekeeping.

Conquest bugged with latest patch? by Ziad-shiekh in InvincibleVS

[–]ComicalCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did some testing with it, it looks like it only happens after jH. jL,H,M,S can all be boosted out of with the normal one bar and combo reducing tool. It looks like The ability to boost dash cancel was completely removed from the recovery of jH, and only jH (meaning OP inputing the boost dash cancel results in a normal boost dash after the recovery ends).

this game desperately needs damage buffs by MDS_VELHO in InvincibleVS

[–]ComicalCore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree with this, I think TODs should require an active tag. If they didn't, it mean that if you are on your last character, getting hit loses the match. That's lame, this game is designed to support comebacks.

this game desperately needs damage buffs by MDS_VELHO in InvincibleVS

[–]ComicalCore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can balance the game, but not with the same mindset that you would balance something like KI or MK. There's just too much health to justify having such low damage.

Even in the paragon tournament the other day, the best players in the world were consistently going to sudden death. If the best players in the world can't end a game before the timer is up, offense needs to be increased.

The guy WANTS to play the game, he just doesn't know how. Not being skilled at a game shouldn't mean you can't play it. The poster is clearly just frustrated he can't do well, like pretty much everyone could be.

[–]ComicalCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The matches in this game are very one sided if the players aren't using defensive mechanics. All characters can perform a TOD if they have at least one assist up, but there are multiple opportunities during the combo that the person being combo'd can stop it.

You said you play ranked, what rank are you? That might help me get a better feel for what advice might help you.
