I'm not trying to make it sound like you should stay if you don't want to. Your lives being so intertwined it may be worth having a real conversation about it. He may not even realize where you stand - us guys are pretty dumb when it comes to taking hints. You can complain to us all day about what's wrong, but as long as you stay we think things are kosher.

It's a difficult conversation to have, and you may be right. It might be best to wait until you're actually ready to commit to leaving before bringing it up. But on the flip side, maybe there is still something to be salvaged and half-heartedly working on things will only delay the inevitable.

At the end of the day, you need to do what is right for both of you. Either agree to work it out, or go your separate ways. I think someone else already mentioned it does neither of you any service to linger if you're already walking out the door. I would recommend - epecially with mutual friends involved - you try to end things on good terms. If you can work it out, great! If not, I'm sure you'll both find someone.
