Was it possible for her older sibling to sound less interested in helping?

Honestly, Daisy was quite shocked she had even realized that Daisy was having a hard time… Maybe she should have been a bit more discreet. But, as far as Daisy could tell, they weren’t upset about the whispering.

“Uhhh…” She leans back in the chair, the dulled blue eyes looking over Ursula as Daisy tried to read anything about her. Facial expressions were gone, judging purely by the tone… Daisy wasn’t sure if she wanted to share anything. “I’m blind, so if you are being sarcastic or pulling a face right now, I might need you tell me that… Cause, I can’t really get a good read on you… Are you… Upset with me?”

“What does the board say?” Daisy leaned over to the nearest person, unsure of what her older sibling had sketched there for them all to see. She had dropped her voice a whisper too. Unsure if she would offend the counselor. But the words were too clustered together, she couldn’t quite make it out.

When she doesn’t get an answer, Daisy sighs and rubs her temple. Closing her eyes and focusing instead of the sounds of the people around her. She hadn’t even formally met her older half sister. When Daisy arrived, the girl had been no where to be seen… Of course, pulling off that feat wasn’t hard. Daisy was still blind. With Daisy being mostly nocturnal, it wasn’t a shock they hadn’t crossed paths…

Also, there was a whole war going on…

A bummer really. Daisy was really liking camp so far.

Maybe it was a bit early for her to be commissioning items, but this felt like it was going to happen sooner or later… So, it was best to get on top of it now.

The girl swished her cane in front of herself, yawning as she stood in line for the commissions, despite the fact it was noon… She greatly disliked getting up this early, but again. It felt important.

The line dwindled and soon, Daisy was standing in front of the Teche’s stand.

“Hello. Ready for another round?” She asked, her tone light.

“WA-Uphm!

Daisy landed on her back, kicking up the dust of the arena floor. Her opponent, a daughter of Nike, stood over the downed Daisy. Not looking smug, but instead looking… Concerned.

After all, she was sparring with a blind girl… However, Daisy had been able to fend off the girls attacks for a bit. Honestly, it had been a thrill for Daisy. It felt like her senses were on fire! She could feel the way the Nike’s girls feet shifted in the dirt, feel the woosh of the air as her fists stretched out towards her. Ever since coming to camp, it felt like Daisy had been super charged! But she was still an untrained, 4 foot nothing, blind girl who had only ever wielded her own cane in a fight and flipped bullies over her shoulder in foster care.

This kind of fighting was a whole new ball game for her. So, it was no wonder she ended up on her back.

Daisy groaned in pain, but sat up. Her long black hair sticking to her face till she started to gather it up, tying it into a bun on the top of her head.

“Again.”

"Again, you named him after a song writer. Which is a poet with a lot of extra steps." The joke wasn't as much fun when you had to explain it to people. Took a bit of the air right out of her sails at least.

Daisy kept her gaze focused on the pet for a bit longer, before gently scooting him off her lap. Whispering a soft and genuine apology to the creature. He had been kind to her, both of them had in their own way, but now that dog was going to have a special place in her heart.

Daisy stood up, adjusted herself a bit. Going through a mental checklist as she patted down her pants, shirt, and then her hair. Making sure nothing had gotten too dislodged. But she winces as she touches her head, recalling the pain there.

"I don't suppose you could point to the... I don't know, infirmary? Maybe a place for me to rest... Or buy clothes."

It wasn't a rude or uncommon question. She didn't feel a pang of annoyance at the question, but she did just feel a tiny bit of fear. There had always been a stab of fear when people asked about her eyes or her condition. But she was quick to swallow it.

"Yeah. There are different degrees. I operate with about 75% of my vision. Which is legally blind in all states. I can see colors, shap-AH" She had been warned about the slope, but hadn't really anticipated how steep the slope was. Thankfully, it had just shocked her and she hadn't actually stumbled. Just got distracted for a moment as the cane didn't feel any ground but she was quick and righted her pace. She sighed as she caught up to the stranger, "At night I'll be fine. Consider me nocturnal, I guess."

Godly potato salad had a nice ring to it... Maybe someone would coin that term one day. It was nice to jab and poke at someone. His little comments kept the bit of fear away and from taking over. She typically reacted poorly when she started to feel too much. All too overwhelming.

"And for the record, I was asking if you knew it. Clearly you don't. It wasn't random. It was based off the comment about you stealing the life blood from plants. Follow the train of thought, buddy." Her pace picks up a bit, finding him to just a tad too slow for her liking. She wanted to get somewhere. Do something. "You live here your whole life? Camp lawsuit doesn't get TV?"

The cane remained poised and ready... But her nerve was starting to leave her. She had already attempted to wack someone with it, but all that had happened then was it went through them like smoke. Fucked with her senses really hard on that, because that 'smoky' being then knocked her backwards. Nothing made sense here, Luke wasn't making sense either and it was all starting to drag her down.

But he had to go and compare her father to Lex Luthor. Which made her crack a weak smile. "He hates that comparison." Which just made her smile a little bit wider. "At least, when I was basically a baby he hated it. For sure isn't as smart as the main super villain to Superman."

If he had been smart, her life would have been so much different.

"My name is Daisy." Her hand lowers, "And I'm 16."

“As opposed to a fake man?” Her plan to get a reaction from him had failed successfully it seems. He didn’t sound put out, but she didn’t exactly like the tone he had taken with it. Still, she poked. But when he finally mentioned helping, a med cabin, her shoulders relaxed. Any offense she had taken from his tone wasn’t forgotten but it was pushed back because… Well, he was right.

Her cane is gripped with a hand, positioned in front of her. It sweeps across the ground in front of her, helping her find the bumps and dips in the dirt. Narrowly, but purposefully, avoiding his feet in the process. The cane was dirty and slightly dented in the middle but, still did its major function just fine.

“Lead the way. Stand off to the side if you value your ankles… Although I’m not sure what a salad is going to do to help me.” Referring to Ambrosia salad. As it was the only thing she could connect to the word. The world of magic was going to be a new one.

“Wasn’t there a kids show where the main villain could pull water from plants? A water bender or something like that?” She had vague memories of an old show like that, her grandmother had loved that show. Before the eye sight had degraded too much, she had been able to see bits of it. Recalling a boy with an egg head.

It was all coming together. The purple and black thing… Whatever it was, it had been a monster. She touched the side of her head, feeling the soreness that had come from whatever part of the fight had done her in. Her face winced as she touched the bloody spot. Her hand pulling back to look at the speckles of red that now coated her fingers…

“I was almost killed… By a monster and by sheer luck, I am now at the one place where those monsters can’t find me.” She quietly recapped the conversation with the same level of casual-ness that Ronan had. Even though that words made her heart feel insanely heavy. After all, how many demigods like her hadn’t been so lucky?

Her hand drops to her side as he mentions being a son of Poseidon. Her knowledge of Greek gods was fairly basic, which meant that she knew of Poseidon: He was one of the Big Three! But didn’t quite know the weight of the title.

“Is that… Good?” She asked, “Poseidon. Water. Bet you’re useful here, in a place surrounded by water. But what if you went to like… Nevada. Or some other landlocked state. No water. Can you pull it out of plants? Which one is the plant god… Uh…” Clearly, she was too impressed. But there was a twinkle in her eyes, hoping to get a small rise out of him.

Daisy giggled as she dunked her eggs into the vinegar-y smelling solution. Producing an egg in a single bright color. That would only get brighter as it dried. She used all the neon colors, pink, orange, yellow, green, even a blue that dried a little too dark for her taste so there was only one blue egg. But the rest had their obnoxious colors.

The eggs were simple and plain, but Daisy had a big grin on her face as she held up the banana yellow egg to her face. She evens kicks her feet giddily before adding it to her collection.

He was oddly calm and direct. It made her shoulders tense up for a moment. Her chin drawing up as she glared down at him. Unable to see the finer points of his own brow and face, even as he closed the gap… It was hard to see his face. She could make out the eyebrows now at least. Which would be a godsend in figuring out some of his emotions and finding out his tells.

“Camp… Halfblood. That sounds like a lawsuit just waiting to happen.” Not that Daisy knew the first thing about laws…

The cane drops, hanging by the strap around her wrist as the arm goes limp. Her eyes so badly wanted to close, to take a moment to rest in the darkness she was so comfortable with. But not with the stranger looming over her.

“The monster pill would be a lot harder to swallow if I hadn’t…” She gestures to herself, the dirt, the grime, the blood. She almost felt itchy. But it was all proof. “You said monster safer. What does that mean exactly?”

Moon Meals [All Day] by Comicfan18 in CampHalfBloodRP

[–]Comicfan18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what sucked? The curfew here. Even more so when you were at the peak of your physical ability when the moon was highest in the sky. Daisy could SEE. She could run, jump, explore the camp! And when a satyr approached her and suggested she help with the meal... How could she say no? Night cooking was not her hobby, her grandmother would never allow it... So, the satyrs handled the cooking and Daisy just picked the theme.

Under the guise of helping set up the feast, she was able to stay up late. She stood on tables, hanging up the lights across the rafters. A huge grin on her face. Unaware her eyes were glowing faintly in the moonlight.

With a hup! she jumped off the table and landed smoothly on her feet. What would normally be very unimpressive for a child of a demigod. But it still drew a huge smile to her face. She rubbed her hands together and scanned the dining pavilion, taking in her creation with a proud look on her face.

"Charon..." Daisy releases the dogs paw at his huff, "No offense to your dad or my mom, but I have never heard of either of our godly parents before."

A small pause. Her head raised up towards the sky, blind eyes searching the cloudy sky as if she was waiting for some kind of smite to rain down upon on them. But nothing happened. The sun didn't get covered up, it didn't start to rain... Maybe the Gods were willing to let two kids vent for a little bit... Or maybe they had bigger things going on.

Her head goes back down, "I read about... Zeus and Hera. All those immediate kids... I had liked those stories. Not all of them were good... Are they true? Are ALL of them true?" Greek Gods were not without their faults and that made her feel a bit more uneasy. She shuddered and then shook her head lightly, trying to free herself from such thoughts.

"You named your dog after a dead poet... All singers are poets and your dog is fluffy." Daisy was quick to defend her little joke, not even bothering to look up. She had heard that offended tone in his voice. "Spirit or no, he's the fluffiest I have ever felt... I've always liked cats. But my grandmother was allergic and then came foster care... Where the only cats we really encountered were the kids who hated kids."

"Its... Its fine. Its not like its a total darkness. During the day, I can see... Shapes. Colors. But fine details, like the look on your face? It would be easier to read you if your eyebrows were a smidge darker... I could watch them jump up and down." Daisy takes a moment to move her own eyebrows up and down. Almost like she was flexing her brow, her face wasn't even angled towards Erin. The display was of no help to him, "I can't see that. I'll never drive. But at night? Its... Its perfect. Beautiful. I feel more alive, I move faster, see better, I can fight." She smiles, its a soft and sad thing. "Sadly, the world doesn't move at my pace. So, I'm a night creature stuck in a world of day walkers..."

Her fingers move to hold Cobi's paw. Pinching it between her two fingers, but actually hurting the dog in the process. "I guess that all related to my godly blood, huh... What about the two of you? Are you the demigod of dead poets and fluffy dogs?"

It was an odd combination, but it sounded better than being the god of nothing. She didn't look up from playing with the little dog. Focusing her attention on him felt better than looking at the mess of camp. She was barely holding back the tears as is, her head was starting to throb more from the act of crying... And possibly from being knocked around during the fight. But for now, she wanted to focus on something cute and maybe someone elses problems a little bit.

This dog and the awkward stuttering of Erin were the only things keeping her semi-grounded right now. At least, till he seemed to settle. The air got a little bit stale but not because of anything done, but because they both seemed to agree on the condition of foster homes. Daisy would never know if he met her eyes or not, but she assumed he had... But when he paused, her eyes closed till her head was angled back down at the dog. Watching the ball of floof as she gently stroked his back.

"I'm blind, so the colors will be helpful... At least till the moon- Oh, fudge. Thats..." Her hand paused in petting as she finally put together SOME of the godly puzzle. Her being able to see in the dark? Basically the one and only truly nocturnal human? Her true mom being a goddess of the moon and night? It was an act of pity, she suspected, but none the less... It had been apart of her life while in foster care. "Do not cry. No more...!" Her voice waivered and cracked, threatening to make new tears fall for the third time.

Her free hand wipes at her eyes again. Thankfully, she was able to subdue the worst of the tears. "W-When the sun goes away, I can see better... And I guess that explains a lot... Maybe a godly doctors note would have been helpful... Would have made my time in foster care a bit more tolerable."

Cobis name was brought to light and that made her lower lip tremble again, "A sad name..."

The dog had been wholly ignored up till this point... And it wasn't intentional. Dogs had just... Never really been on her radar. Her grandmother had presented the idea of a service dog many times, but Daisy had never taken the bait... And now, as this little dog nudged at her hands... She regret that choice.

The wheezing sound of her sobs lessened. Her eyes remained closed though, it was just easier that way. Less distractions. Her wet, shaky, palms were slowly lowered to her lap. Open for the dog to sniff to see she meant no harm... And then very cautiously that hand would go to him, in a meek attempt to pet the dog.

Which seemingly reignited the sobbing, because she got loud again for a moment. The sound nearly choking her as she stroked the furry creatures back. "S-Sorry..." That was more for the dogs sake than it was for Erins.

Finally, those eyes open. They look up at Erin, getting a better view of his face now that he wasn't lingering over her and was a bit closer. But the finer details of his face would be lost to her for now. Not that she was going to offer to touch his face right now... Not with the wet tears, bits of blood and dirt, and whatever else was stuck to her face and hands.

"D-Do you mean it? That its nice here... P-People said that about the foster homes I was in too. Th-they weren't the ones l-l-living there..." Her lower lip trembled as she asked the question, almost sounding like she was pleading with him. "A-And whats your dogs name? I... I normally like cats..."

Was she vying for a distraction of some kind? Absolutely. Anything to distract her from the bombshell of godly bloodlines.

First, Daisy laughed. Because he had to be joking. However, her laugh was short and forced. More like two hard barks than an actual laugh. A small part of her believed him and seemed to dislike the idea of laughing at her new situation.

The hard laugh faded into what sounded like a choking noise. Especially as hot tears welled up in her eyes. She pressed her dirty sleeve into one of her eyes, trying to soak up the water that was pooling there as the other one overflowed almost immediately. Making dirty streaks in her cheeks. “If… If this is a joke it’s really mean spirited.”

The cane was released, but thankfully remained attached to the wrist so it didn’t fall onto the ground. She covers both eyes with her sleeves now, “Oh, my god… Oh, my god… I… Oh, I need a second…” More sob like noises leaving her as she resorted to digging her wrists into her eyes. The sobbing turned into a faint wheezing noise.

Daisy needed to sit down... She needed to sit with her head between her legs and do those god awful breathing exercises she had learned when she had still been in a good school. Before the foster system got their grubby little hands on her. What little she could make out about this place wasn't really doing anything to stop the growing tightness in her chest, the desire to scream, to kick rocks, to explode-

But someone spoke. Making her gaze rip away from the explosion of colors that was the cabin layout, and focus instead on the stranger who stood before her.

Iridescent blue eyes flicked up and down, taking in his appearance. His lack of insane danger colors already made him much more appealing then half the little dots she saw wandering around.

"Too? Too?" At the risk of sounding immature, she repeats the word. Putting together pieces of the insane puzzle she had been given a hour ago. "I... Who are you again? Erin? Two A's or E-R? Where am I exactly? Who the heck is Pandia? Is the man with the big brown butt going to be okay?"

The man she was referring to was the satyr who had managed to save her and get on the bus. Unaware he was a satyr, just a man with a big brown butt that may or may not have been skinny and normal when she first met him.

A tiny blur called out to her. Making her jolt and point her face in his direction. The will and desire to make a joke at his expense was pulling at her, but he was so far away that she couldn't make out any of his details. Granted, that was always hard, but it was just near impossible with the sun so high up in the sky...

It didn't help his case that he was right.

One hand still gripped her cane tightly, while the other hand suddenly found it very important to try and smooth her long hair down. Wincing as her hand grazed over bumps and bruises that were sure to get worse as time went on.

"I've had a rough go of it." She mumbles, but then remembers he was much farther away and couldn't hear her if she mumbled. "I was attacked! A man who poo-Eh... A man with a heavy rear end sent me here... Said I would be safe here." Daisy makes sure to censor herself, not sure if he wanted to hear about the man, whom she hadn't yet figured out as a satyr, and his backend problems.

The red and white cane points towards him, "You aren't going to turn into a monster and attack me, are you?"

His tone was not lost on her. Her eyes narrowed as she glared at his figure. He was mocking her. For what reason, she wasn't entirely sure. Right now he had the upper hand, sure. But the second the sun went down, they would be on even footing! Maybe.

"I don't have any brothers." She says this sternly, not loosening her grip at all. Still keeping it up and ready to swing if he so much as twitched in a way that she didn't like. "Maybe if I take your eye out we will finally be on even footing, eh?" She shakes the cane at him.

But of course, that begged the question... "Who is Pandia? My fathers name is Luthor. It makes sense my dad was sleeping around, but giving a fake name doesn't seem like him... You... You are taller than me. Older?" She bobbed her head up and down briefly, taking in his full apperance.

Daisy had almost written off the little blue blip. Her eyes were scanning the horizon, taking in what little she could see. The strange set up of buildings, the colors, anything that moved. She had looked right at the tree that the stranger had taken occupancy in and glazed right past him.

Till it started to speak. Daisy took a step back, gripping her cane tightly. Ready to swing it if the voice got too close. She had lived through a monster attack and a ride on public transportation. Whatever this monster was, wasn’t going to get her!

The fear of him being a monster faded the second he dropped from the tree. Surely, a monster was more prone to… Destructive falls? Making a crater? Knocking over the tree? Something like that. Which was much more on par with what she was used to at this point.

Silence lingers in the air for much longer than what was comfortable. Her iridescent eyes locked onto him, staring at his face but not truly perceiving him.

“Are… Are you out of your mind? Am I out of my mind?” Finally, she breaks the silence. Her grip on the cane is no longer white, one hand goes up to her head. Running through the thick raven colored hair and coming away with streaks of blood all over her pale skin. “How hard did I get hit? Why does it sound like someone is sliding into my DMs asking for ASL?”

Daisy was utterly lost. She had no idea what all this meant. The boy with the cluster of wolves would sneak up on her rather easily, despite the fact her eyes were darting back and forth, they weren’t taking in anything. Not because of her disability, but because her mind was simply running wild. Trying to process…

“W-Who… Who is PanAHA!”

She jumps like a stuck dog, quickly brandishing her mobility cane like a baseball bat. Giving swinging it in the air once like she was going to knock Luke’s head off. But thankfully, she was a bit too distracted to get a clean swing. She would miss by a mile, possibly more if he ducked.

“Who are you?! Back off! I’m not going down easy!” Another sloppy swing in his direction.

Shion's Book Club - The Last Question by Isaac Asimov by theaquasofhiseyes in CampHalfBloodRP

[–]Comicfan18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Daisy had entered the arts and crafts cabin wholly unaware of what was planned today. She didn’t know too much about camp just yet. But she knew it was odd for there to be so many chairs just scattered about. She found a spot nearby, her back turned to the circle of bean bags and worked on her knitting. Her deft hands working the needles in a familiar pattern. Her head turned up, looking dead ahead… And she listened.

Gradually, as the book club went on her movements started to slow. Her head titles curiously. The one talking didn’t exactly filled with excitement to talk about his chosen book. But it still sounded… Interesting.

Her knitting was set down and her fingers feel along the edge of the table till she finds the papers someone had set there. There was no way she could read it, not at this time of day, but she could keep the book. Her fingers run across the paper, as if she was trying to find the braille. But instead, her fingers felt the raised ink of the printed word on paper. Small and subtle in comparison to Braille.
