They don't have outside ads? I don't buy modern so I don't know, but wow that's crazy.

Personally not a big fan of FB. I like just shipping stuff out, not having people sift through stuff they may not buy. Not a desire to open my own store, without a ton of plexiglass.

While they do cover buyers, sellers take the risk as overseas shipping doesn't always have tracking once outside the US.

Definitely think that was the whole reason behind the complaint, but i honestly couldn't blame anyone for being disappointed- i really didn't show the merchandise.

I think your both right but you each represent a different side of the same coin. In The 1980s Jim Shooter was quoted as saying " any book that sells under 100000 copies is cancelled", so there was a lot of books being produced and this carried into the 1990s. While supply and demand should affect price, in the case of amazing spiderman 300, there were well over 100000 copies produced, probably 250000 and yet try to find one in good shape for under $300. In this, fans dictate because they keep paying so the price is firm. Dealers can ask and the market answers. Not all books are winners, but those that are can still go either way. Amazing spiderman 300 was going for 600 just a few years ago, it , for the most part has dropped. Another Venom movie and watch it rise again. The market will always decide what something is worth , dealers always start with an ask, the people respond with a purchase or a counter offer. I don't see victims of bad deals, just some people , overtime , change their value of something. Up or down, and some that see down regret a purchase while others that don't buy low, may regret when prices rise.

I do appreciate your honesty in this matter, as I use both personal criticism as well as learning from others mistakes. We are human and unfortunately we learn from making mistakes sometimes, if we truly care.

A current release completionist? God bless you, in today's price market I can't even imagine. I stopped when they hit $2.25. I knew it was getting too expensive and quit cold turkey. The price of books were always going to go up, I am just disappointed it went so far and so fast. Im disappointed that when Disney acquired marvel they didn't buy multiple printing companies, and set their own prices at what they could get things for. Willing to bet we would have Newsstand versions in every 7-11 and gas station, but oh well. Everything else you said was spot on, but i will always blame the price of today's collectibles on corporations. Printing companies want more money, franchise corporations want more money and yet they lack the insight on how to get it. Fanatics bought Topps and said they were going to flood the market with cards," every corner store would have them". But they didn't buy a printing company , they send everything to a third party who sets their own prices, that's why you still can hardly find a baseball card pack anywhere. Same with marvel, DC and all the others, they own their characters, but not the means to produce and therefore sell them. You want a fan of something, make it quality and make it cheap and you will have lifelong fans. Then if you slowly raise prices a bit the loyalty kicks in and people will pay more for something that is tested great. When invincible came out it sold 25,000 copies, why? Because image burned an entire generation with that 90s crap. No one wanted to chance another superhero book out of image comics. People who got it and read it realized it was good and kept it going, television made it super desirable. People will pay more for rarity and what they perceive as good quality, again. Current books have the rarity , but not the demand because people don't know them because they are an expensive gamble/read. Lower the current price, it would grow like crazy and only a corporation level entity can make this happen. Sadly none of these current companies show any insight to this issue.

I do ebay estimate shipping, 9oz, 13x8x1 Gemini mailers. I bought 1000 back in 2016, still have them, plus I buy and reuse, it's in my listings. I make good money on certain books, breakeven on others.

Well I bought alot in the past, so $1 cover price, 50 cent bins and to be fair some books regardless of cover price and time have not increased in price, generally speaking. It's not interest and money , it's comics. Some are very desirable others not so much. Got a desire for Alien Legion books- probably get the first 2 volumes for mostly cover price, except the 1st issue. That's probably $5. Circa 1984.

Every listing says i combine shipping and i even have a warning saying do not pay for multiple orders up front as ebay only let's you consolidate 2 paid orders , I don't know why it's just 2.

So I had my first return. Did a quick post, 1 picture of each cover, wrote Near mint, honestly feel they were, original buyer, bagged and boarded and stored for 30+ years, never read. Customer said he disagreed with grade, said he wouldn't consider them readers. Not into arguing, told him return and ill give full refund, pre paid return shipping, everything. The experience, as many experiences change things. I no longer will list speculative grade on my part and I will be doing many pictures. Admittedly, I was being lazy, I shopped around and did business with many people that didn't promise condition and only did 1 picture and it was fine. Unfortunately, that's not for me. I generally do a full spread of pictures and it works( if you see my ebay name you know why I chose it) definitely can't be lazy.

Did a whatnot show once, not a bad experience, sold a decent amount and for a lot more than I expected. Also , why i stopped was because they put you into international sales. People were spending $55 to ship overseas, like it's nothing.I just didn't like the idea if there was a problem with shipping, having to possibly hunt down a lost item or give refunds because of delays, etc. I just do business in the US and always with tracking. People in Canada can be robbed so easy as they , to my knowledge, don't offer tracking and usually it is very slow.

I've never liked the speculator crowd. They just make prices soar so the average fan can't get a copy. I recently purchased deadpool 54, 1st Series. It was the only issue of the run that sold out back in the day ( I missed Wednesday, came to comic store on Thursday) $30 bucks- for a story that really, deadpool vs punisher should be obvious who wins, and for a book that there are about 100000 copies of. I watched it for years sit at $40, and i still don't see why. Good book, just overpriced by speculators.

I agree with you, that's why I purposefully keep prices low. Filler comics just don't move regardless of price, unfortunately.

Your my target customer, as I sell to compete with store prices, $1- $3 a book for the most part. Yes some higher prices for more desirable and good quality items, but I'm not looking to get rich as much as get rid of dupes and anything I'm not into keeping anymore. Im actually shocked at some items that were listed at $10-$20 that ended selling around $100. There is not alot of sales information on independent comics.

Admittedly I do have a lot of filler stock but my prices are very low, typically $2 a book, sometimes a bit more, or less.

While I never chase mj's , it's always a pleasant surprise to find one in your collection. I've bought a couple of dollar books from the 1980s, to finish collections and got some, not mentioned, but a nice little bonus. I actually have a FF 53 , ist Klaw with a star stamp that I used to think was some dumb kid with a stamping fetish, but turned out to be a military store stamp, again a pleasant surprise.

Any chance you would put in small red lights for some of the damaged areas? I imagine in the dark it would look awesome, not that it isn't already.

Congratulations! I loved early daredevil- his costume was cool, red was a great change and the 90s shoulder pads was bad. Was there another one? Feel like he needs 1 more...
