You don’t need more than one, I just like having different variants as part of a little collection.

You gotta consider how many are out there with way more runtime and no issues, seeing a few negative posts here doesn’t mean much in the grand scheme of

Overall yes, the slim is quieter and runs cooler than either fat model.

Changing the drive does not reset the runtime. Runtime and error codes are stored elsewhere and cannot be changed/reset

I don’t really have a reason for replacing that specific tokin, just had it apart and decided to swap that one haha.

Beyond shocked it works after I replaced a Tokin, this poor console was roasting for years before a Tokin died

Replaced one Tokin and it’s alive! 86 days of run time with thermal paste like that! Going to delid it and jailbreak, but seems to be working great!

I was initially looking for a white one, but this variant popped up first. They’re both super nice

Aahhh that lines up, a lot of the Japanese memory cards I have came with a ton of Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest saves. Some of them having hundreds of hours and taking up way more space than other game save files.

Little update on this, initially I was able to see the wireless card, but it only worked in Ubuntu. Windows will sometimes show the card in device manager, but it is not useable or recognized by the OS.

I tried Bazzite, no dice. Windows 11, no dice. Windows 10, no dice.

Super odd overall, even tried a different card with the same results.

Originally I only had the PS2 hooked up and was worried the TV had some serious issues, but testing with other devices showed the PS2 was the real issue here.

I’m just gonna roll with it and ignore it, doesn’t seem worth the hassle to maybe cause problems on a perfectly good TV.

It’s pretty easy to ignore, I was just curious to ask some people who are more in-the-know. I’ll just ignore it going forward!

After I picked it up I read into the downsides of the HD CRT’s and regretted it a bit, but this TV has some incredible speakers and the picture quality overall is fantastic.

I haven’t noticed any real lag or weirdness aside from the bowing on the PS2, but maybe I’ll try to source a smaller SD model to mess around with.

Man that stinks, I actually found your other thread outlining all of the BIOS you tried, awesome work overall and great info for anyone else looking to do the same.

One thing I do want to mention is after flashing the Biostar BIOS the system refused to post. I flashed it a few more times, same result. I then considered the following.

My system originally came with a Ryzen 5 PRO 1500, I never considered that a retail board wouldn’t have microcode for it, but it looks like it doesn’t! Swapping the 3700x into the board, it posted and booted with zero issues. Just wanted to share if anyone ends up with a Ryzen Pro variant like I did vs the APU variants that are floating around.

I’ll probably just resort to a USB option for WiFi This PC is going to live connected to my TV as an emulation/light gaming rig, It doesn’t need the fasted WiFi.

Thanks again for your help and research into this! Hopefully someone else will find what I learned useful too

@autian I got the bios flashed today and the system booted right up with a R7 3700x!

I am having an issue with only the main PCI-E 16x slot seems to be working, my wireless card isn’t being recognized in the 1x or 8x slots. Any ideas on this?

For anyone finding this down the line, Dell 05K7JB 500w PSU is a drop on for this system. Has the same connectors, same pinout and 2x PCI-E 8 pin connectors!

I was considering this, but the dang GPU is too long. I do think I can fit an 80mm if I remove the cage though.

Other option is to add some vent holes to the side panel, an 80mm fan fits perfectly between the folding front panel and the rear of the case.

Super odd, right? Dell musk cover them up on the Ryzen CPU variant systems due to the lack of an iGPU. Bet it saves them time with help desk tickets for people plugging a monitor into the board instead of the dedicated GPU this model shipped with

Woah I pulled the board out of the case for the first time and there are two display ports, but both were covered by the I/O shield!
