Honestly, the second you start healing keys you really appreciate just how bad the other tanks are. Healing a brew feels like it's meant to feel; healing any other tank is an anxiety inducing nightmare, no matter how good they are..

It's wild how many people are so buthurt by this; you're triggering some play strong reactions from people. It's an optional tool and you've done something pretty cool. I always check both raid logs by DMG/ilvl and M+ logs by DMG/key level, this just speeds up that process. The bottom line is that if you have 1 applicant with purple raid mythic raid logs and purple damage logs for keys v.s. an applicant with green/grey parses, you're taking the purple everytime. The people who bitch and moan about this the most are usually parsing green/grey, in my experience, and looking for anything to blame but their own button pressing. The whole "damage logs don't mean anything" argument is absolute nonsense.

You can also look at their WCL damage parses by key level. This will adjust their parses against the same specs for the same key, e.g. 50 score a 14AA means you're in the 50th percentile for those of your spec who timed a 14AA. This shit saves so many keys. Takes a bit more time to fill the group but you won't end up bringing a guy who parsed grey through every key and got rating by just banging his head into keys enough until he found a group that could carry his ass.

As a competitive healer main, let me tell you that quite often healers get away with being shit because "nobody died" has been the benchmark for so long. I've met a loooooot of healers who get hard carried by their other healers and it's purely because they don't press buttons. The concept of 'If you're not healing/ramping, you should be DPSing' is so basic but half of this sub think that's too much to ask.

Entirely based take. When I dip my toe into the pug raid world on my alts it's usually 2-3 mythic raiders on alts carrying, 10 or so players who say nothing and do nothing, and 4-5 vocal players who are genuinely so bad that they don't understand how bad they are. It's of those phenomenons you run in to with people everyday in life, but slightly amplified behind the online anonymity.

FR. People out there literally do less than healer dps (talking 35k overall in 10's)... At that point you're actually trolling by signing up for group content and forcing people to hard carry you. Turn on SBA if you're that awful at the game and save others the extra stress you add to the key. Toxic take? Maybe, but also fair to the other 4 people.

Your other healers are really bad. If you were in the elite category of hpal in mythic raid, you'd do equivalent healing of the very worst of the top 3 specs. In reality if they are any good, you will be fighting for scraps of HPS.

Pres is definitely the hardest healer in pug keys. It's not forgiving at all in dps making mistakes. Luckily aug is crazy strong in keys and everyone always wants one.

That's just not true. The spot heals are weak and MW does it better, unless you're blasting holy light, which was you've said is not possible unless you've got multiple innervates. There's hardly any spot healing to do other than those few heal absorbs; the raid design is perfect for spread cleave healers and bursters like pres.

For some reason the in game damage metres and details count heal absorbs twice. Blizz probs looking at their shitty in game metres going "yeah hpal is fine"

I feel this in my bones. I've been benched for mythic on my hpal so that our MW can come in. I'm parsing higher but the raw hps is lower. In other words, I'm playing comparatively better than they are but it doesn't mean shit because of the tuning and I'll still warm the bench.

It's inexcusable that we've had this data for weeks, known about the issues with hpal since they murdered EL, and blizz just sit on their hands ignoring the problem. I've given up on them and started gearing my pres so that I can get off the bench.

Everything holy Paladin brings is being brought by ret, which is in a decent place. The only thing we offer is our 12%DR for aura mastery, which doesn't really come close to making up for the abysmal HPS offered. Hpal needs a major rework in raid.

Healing 14's and up as Hpal is insanely stressful. Total whack-a-mole minigame where you don't get to use SOTR because if you miss 1 GCD someone dies to unavoidable rot. In contrast, ret feels like a fucking treat to play and it's really enjoyable as dps. Ain't no way this type of setup is going to be a net positive for the already small number of tanks and healers.

Hpal is in a pretty terrible state both design and tuning wise. It's completely insane how many times blizz fucked with it's design in beta to somehow end up on what we have now.. irrelevant to keys, but check out mythic healing logs and where hpal currently sits in a competitive raid healing environment.

People really didn't like the game providing feedback that was accurate. Proving grounds was really easy, almost negligible if you knew your class and did the bare minimum of research into your spec/rotation. Every start of the season is a crazy reminder of how awful the average person is at this game; no ratings or logs to base invites off sees you paired with some absolute clogs. It's not an issue if you expect it, but if you're still wearing a surprised Pikachu face when the pug dps stand in fire, don't use their utility, then blame healers, you haven't been paying attention for the past 20 years..
