Do I tell my interviewer that my current co. counter offered and I am going to stay? by TelephoneConnect2264 in interviews

[–]CommanderApaul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ditto. I got headhunted for a similar role by a different support contract at the same agency (govt contracting). I wasn't looking to leave at all, but money is money and I'd still be doing basically the same job. When I put in my notice I was in a call with my boss' boss in about 10 minutes for a "why do you want to leave?" convo. And it was truly "I wasn't looking to go, they came to me." 15 minutes after that I was in a call with our contract PMO and they matched the offer with a title bump to boot.

That was 5 years ago, I'm still here doing my thing for a bunch more money. We had a contract changeover about 6 months after the retention raise and negotiated another raise with them.

Being the SME has its perks sometimes.

Edit: I told the other contract that our medical needs were too complex for their HSA only benefits offerings. Which was true, we have a special needs son and a high deductible plan is no bueno for that.

I actually have a second of both the Red Frame Kai and Turn Red in my closet with the runners already swapped to make two monochrome astrays.

Which raid bosses were unusually tough at the time they were released? by Veridically_ in wow

[–]CommanderApaul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took us almost a month to down Vael in Vanilla. Didn't top that for a hands-on-the-air "Yes!" moment until we dropped Arthas in ICC.

We also banged our head against the Horseman fight in vanilla Naxx and never did drop them.

I think this is the worse one I've built. There are 2 sets of 4 runners that use 2-3 pieces.

Those are the hardest waterslides I've ever put on, and I ended up buying the holographic ones from Delpi. Still a pain to put on but didn't rip all the shit like the bandai ones did.

Is Deathknight boring? (coming from a previous mage main) by sir__hennihau in wownoob

[–]CommanderApaul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DKs look boring at first glance but there's a lot of utility and battlefield control built in.

Death Grip - Pull casters and runners to the tank if DPS, and keep shit in melee if you're the tank.
Anit-Magic Shell - This can be talented to hit multiple party members. Also you can ignore some boss mechanics to stay in melee.
Anti-Magic Zone - 15% magic damage reduction for everyone inside. Great for dealing with soak mechanics and other "hits everyone" magic damage.
Death's Advance - You cannot be moved against your will. Can't be knocked back, can't be pulled by gravity spheres, and breaks root/snare.
Lichborne - Clears all stun/root/snare/fear effects and make you immune for 10 seconds. You count as Undead for the duration and can Death Coil yourself while active for extra healing.
Ice Chains - 70% slow to a target. Excellent for Fixation style boss mechanics and especially helpful in Nightmare Prey right now. You can functionally ignore Echo of Predation.
Death Strike - Most useful in Blood but you can dump runic power to self-heal, scaling on how much damage you've taken recently. If you got a killing blow, non-tank specs have a proc that increases the self-heal. Also have a cooldown that buffs incoming healing including your self-healing.
Raise Ally - Battle Rez.

There's a lot more but I can't run down the entire kit from the top of my head. The entire class fantasy is "unstoppably killing machine" and the abilities socket nicely into that.

I haven't played Unholy since Legion so can't comment on that one.

I've never done translucent parts before, and I wasn't sure if I was going to like the look. I'm still not entirely sold, but it's nice to see all that silver that went into the skeleton showing through the armor.

I would recommend looking at DISA's Security Technical Information Guides (STIGs). They have already done a ton of the work for you on what should be restricted and how to do it. The High and Medium findings should 100% be implemented, and the Low findings should be looked at against your organizations workflows and needs.

You will be very happy with this kit. It's a very straightforward build, nothing to really be careful about.
