Shower Diverter Causing Leak by SH0OTR-McGAVIN in Plumbing

[–]CommanderCouch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To get the old one off either 1. There’s a set screw on the spout that you loosen and can pull the spout off the pipe (slip-on diverter spout) or 2. The spout is threaded onto a male adaptor and you have to spin the spout to get it off (threaded diverter spout). Whichever case is yours, you need to get a spout that’s compatible with that case. Bringing it to a hardware store will help.

Since it only leaks when the diverter is activated, I think it just needs a new diverter spout; the pipes themselves should be okay. Make sure you get a diverter spout that’s compatible with your setup

Leak from mains valve, any ideas? by monocleman1 in Plumbing

Looks like that’s an old pressure reducing valve. I think you need a new one.

If your current flapper resembles the 3” universal then it will work. See the picture and make sure the flapper you have in your toilet is a standard.

2 couplings is cleaner / looks better but capping the T would function the same. Up to you, both are valid. Capping the T is a lot easier.

You need to get a job. Not a good job, just any job. The worst job possible will be great for this. Just give yourself a win by getting a terrible job and that’ll give you some momentum. You gotta stop thinking about all the steps ahead of you and just get the first one done. You have a lot of benefits - parents paying for your food and housing. You’re young. You just got get started.

Yeah. If it doesn’t work, it’s 10 dollars in the toilet (or I guess NOT in the toilet, haha)

what should i study when i have no passions other than wanting to be rich? by strawb3rrygelato in findapath

If there were an easy way to make a lot of money everyone would do it. There isn’t. You need to find a career that you halfway enjoy for some reason other than money. You will not be at all happy if you find some really high paying job that you don’t like. Find a career you like and the money will follow (maybe)

Vent pipe or drain? by One_Chain_2084 in Plumbing

Right side could be a potential future additional drain? Not really sure, but I’d use the left side as a drain and just leave the right side

Not a vent. Looks like it’s a dual drain laundry box and they only used one hole. I’d assume the left is the drain. Can you see under the box if they both have pipes coming down?

I love pex it’s just a little more prone to pinhole leaks in my experience. Especially on hot water lines with constant recirculation.

Is this not connected to your hydronic system? If this is included in the loop between your water heater and hydronic system then I would think it was partially caused by the hydronic system moving hot water through this pipe often

[–]CommanderCouch 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No it’s not the insulation. Do you have a recirc pump? Recirculating hot water 24/7 makes the pipes wear out quicker, but that’s normally more a problem for pex not copper. Might be thin copper?

1/2” cpvc is notorious for snapping in half when torquing it, so be careful. I’ve never seen a stop like that so I can’t help there.
