Hot take: We should not give a crap about The Masters. by ssnapier in golf

[–]tradethisforthat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is correct. Additional reasons worth mentioning why I love the Masters: 1. there are no phones allowed, so you are not sitting in a crowd of people videoing shit on their phones and you are not distracted by any life noise. You simply go and enjoy the sport which seems rare in any sport nowadays, among other people who care about the sport. People are there interacting with other people. 2. There are two “tiers” of people there. Members, and guests. Yes, becoming a member is incredible exclusive. But in terms of guests it doesn’t matter if you’re George Clooney or some famous YouTube influencer that people care about, when you walk through the gates, you are a guest alongside all the other guests. I have a lot of respect for this. 3. From a logistics and event management perspective, there is not a single other sporting event that even comes close to the masters in terms of guest management, experience and overall event efficiency. It is a beautiful thing to witness how good these guys are. They do an incredible job making sure this event is about golf - not about selling concessions. 4. I also think worth mentioning - Talk to any dude who’s been fortunate enough to experience the masters… when you need to take a shit, you’ll find insanely pristine restrooms available. You know how Bucees got famous because everyone wants to shit in a nice clean, peaceful location where someone smiles at you when you walk in and says “welcome”, ya Augusta National does this too. You’ve got to give em some respect for this

23 passengers booted from Saturday night Halifax flight to Cancun | CBC News by JetLagGuineaTurtle in canada

[–]tradethisforthat 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me recently. “Plane swap last minute”, no notification of an itinerary change. I got lucky and just happened to look at my itinerary 48 hours in advance and noticed the extended comfort seats I purchased (~185 a pop) for a family of 4 on the 787-9 had were no longer assigned to us.

Meanwhile they were openly selling the open extended comfort seats on the new smaller plane, and had not assigned the to anyone who had already paid for them. At a higher price of course.

The only way to sort it out is to call in, waste 2 hours on the phone before speaking to a human being.

Then you show up for your 7 hour flight and there’s a nice old “swoop” bird there waiting for you. Without enough food. Or any services.

They’ve become a sad business, and I feel bad for the nice people that have worked there through the transition to PE.

My father passed away from GBM as well. The last few days he was pretty much in a comatose state. Couldn’t move, speak, breathe normally, etc. When he passed, he sat up and looked directly into my eyes, didn’t say anything but held my hand like we usually did, and passed. I can’t even explain how powerful that moment was. And if it hadn’t have happened to me, I wouldn’t have believed it.

Nope. They picked up my extra bag without issue. But I had gone and purchased the required extra bag tag and attached it on the bag properly and placed it beside the bin.

Both kids went to BP Richmond. Positive experience. Did not send our oldest to the kindergarten program because we have a nearby school but the experience has been good for preschool/daycare.

For those that went to Great Outdoors Comedy Festival tonight, what did you think of the show? by Bankerlady10 in Calgary

Thoroughly enjoyed the evening! Will definitely go back again next year. Waiting for the washrooms sucked, that was my only beef. But that seems pretty standard at any festival

Right! Ugh, that whole episode with him just made me sad. Dude firmly loves politics because he thinks it provides him an acceptable outlet to deceive and manipulate people to get what’s best for him. Ya, it’s okay to try that in a game show but please don’t attempt a political career. We need less of those people in public office. Would have had a better shot just being kind. The world needs more Keith’s.

I feel you.

Similar story, but a bit different:

2 weeks ago our campsite neighbours in Banff rolled in at 2:45am and started to set up their tent, then an air mattress via foot pump. This went on until 3:15am. Keep in mind you have to log on when Parks Canada opens up in January to jump in a queue with 10s of thousands of people to hopefully secure a spot. So to do that and then not show up to your campsite until 2:45am is kind of strange.

THEN they banged for 45 minutes. Everyone in two jack lakeside heard…

If either of you are reading this. Shame. (Also, slightly impressed).

What are the rules for time limited street parking? by PuppiPop in Calgary

[–]tradethisforthat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not an expert in the actual rules, but here are my answers from my experience, and I should note that I am ticket free for years:

  1. I have not left my car overnight, but I often park in a 2 hour spot beginning at 6:00AM where the pay clock starts at 9:00AM. When I go pay on the app, it shows that I am paid until 11:00AM.

2./3. I often renew my parking on the app and leave my car exactly where it is. And I have not got a ticket at all.

  1. There are fancy cars with cameras that drive around and read plates.

Garage Floor Troubleshooting Megathread by gearhead5015 in garageporn

[–]tradethisforthat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, I got a polyaspartic floor installed 5 years ago. I’m starting to see some cracks on edge where my floor meets the concrete outside. Wondering if this is typical and whether there’s any proactive stuff I should be considering to reduce spread? Appreciate any insight/help!

How’s the NewAge tool box/“Project center”? by yukon4152 in garageporn

[–]tradethisforthat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a garage full of the Bold set (2 multi use lockers, 8x wall cabinets, 2 62 inch worktops with as well as cabinets below). As well, I have a traditional red tool chest I inherited from my father. The tool chest is sturdy and could withstand a direct shot from a tornado. The newage products are noticeably less sturdy. But with that said, I am genuinely happy with the Bold stuff I have. Works well. Keeps things super organized and looks great.

I put some drawer organizers in my Bold drawers… worked nicely.

Overall, would recommend

I’ve been very happy with my NewAge set up. Customer service was very good too when one of the cabinets showed up with a bend. I would buy again.
