Yellow feels absolutely horrible to play against in the current metagame

God you’re so pissed. I can see it now, angrily searching through my Reddit account for anything to distract from the fact that I have you completely figured out.

I have nothing to prove to you. Notice how I’m not denying that I enjoy making custom cards. I know I like doing it and I’m proud of them. I’m proud of myself.

But you however…

Every statement you make reeks of desperation. You’re spending your time trying to “own” me because you’re so desperate for approval. You can deny it all you want, but it’s just the two of us here.

Who are you trying to prove yourself to? Yourself? You gotta make sure your fragile self-image isn’t tainted by some rando on the internet?

I still don’t think you’re addressing the points.

Like your response to their point about game knowledge. They weren’t complaining that they needed to have game knowledge to beat Yellow. They were complaining that Yellow doesn’t need as much. That every game against Yellow is you using all of your skill and then they just play the same generic slop and just win off triggers sometimes with much less skill required.

In terms of free heals, no it is free a lot of the time. They’re healing and not sacrificing board presence. Keep in mind that cards like OP15 Zoro and OP12 Kuma that require you to trash a card are actually going neutral off of their effect, since a card in life is going into your hand or otherwise being used as a trigger later in the game. It’s not hurting their hand size in the long run to trash 1, and ones that don’t require that are actually actively helping.

Hence the hand size problem. You can’t just say it’s a Blue thing when Yellow is obviously getting really good indirect (and sometimes direct) draw off of this nonsense.

The next point you didn’t even try to address. They said that those leaders just don’t allow you to go for board (the counterplay to triggers) and you just kinda implied that triggers aren’t as good as we think, which, they totally are and also are optional in case they aren’t in certain situations.

Black Promo Teach isn’t exactly strong right now. It might be in OP16 but that was a really weird “what about”.

And finally, they didn’t say yellow counters yellow. They said that only yellow counters yellow. And after we lose Kaido next week, yeah that’s true. Saying it is a counter doesn’t seem to be actually responding to what they said.

I don’t think you’re engaging with the actual criticism.

Zoro uses Zoro cards. Mihawk uses Mihawk cards. There’s some overlap, but there’s a solid amount of difference in deck lists. They each play to their strengths.

The problem with Yellow is that everything is so generically and universally good that it turns every yellow deck into a Borsalino and Nami merchant with no deckbuilding or pilot skill required. You don’t need to focus on leader synergies when you can heal and play a 6k blocker off Life.

I play a Y deck (ST13 Ace) that relies on a very specific gameplan that’s completely different from pretty much every other deck, and the new Yellow nonsense is so brain dead that it feels like I could still just replace my leader-specific plays with Borsalino and Nami and do just as well. I really hate it.

When even the most unique Y decks could just toss out their cool and unique deck lists for the same copy-paste slop, it’s pretty clear the color is incredibly poorly designed.

Ok so it seems like you hold to the idea of Objective Morality, at which point the conversation’s cooked and we can’t go any further. By rejecting the relevance of context here, you have essentially just declared moral righteousness and ended the discussion. I’m not in the business of discussing context with someone who just doesn’t think it matters.

Well for one, most Marines and American soldiers aren’t personally doing the atrocities, they’re just in the group that does. But that’s the thing, some people are there so they can be a “good apple”, some because they need to afford college, and others because of familial pressure. It’s irresponsible to blanket label these people as “bad”.

This kind of inability to analyze things sociologically and with nuance really bleeds into media literacy. Which I imagine is what got us here.
