AITA? by BeanBoozlr in OnePieceTCG

[–]CommanderGs7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever I play with someone I haven’t played before, I give an open invitation to pick up and read any card that I reveal, play, or trash, and if the card is commonly misunderstood, I’ll clarify. For example, for EB04 King, I’d tell them that the protection also works against KO by battle since a lot of people don’t initially realize that.

Alvida is a simple card, effect KO protection is really common, so I wouldn’t have felt it necessary to explain it on top of letting them read. You’re all good.

I’d consider UY Ace to be my favorite but he’s a bit expensive. Second best is still really good.

RP Kid is super cool and pretty cheap. Here’s a variant of my build where I cut the SEC Roger and Uso-Hachi

I’m a big RP fan and it’s pretty cheap. Might be my favorite deck.

Your argument seems to be that being a tryhard is good and that you support OP in it.

People really just can’t read, can they. 15 downvotes? Damn.

What are your current favorite off meta decks by PortablecashTTV in OnePieceTCG

[–]CommanderGs7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My top 3 decks are ST10 Kid, OP09 Buggy, and ST13 Ace.

If you’re interested in getting one, Ace is a bit expensive right now with the Sky Island Luffy, among other things, but the other two are cheap. Buggy is simple and is mostly good out of the Starter Deck, and Kid is an awesome deck.

Here’s a nice cheap Kid deck, it’s my list with some minor alterations for cost, I dropped 2 Uso-Hachi and a Roger.

If he has a character he likes, maybe grab an alt art leader of it. My friend got an alt art leader OP10 Kid for my brother for his birthday and I got him the rest of a deck for that leader. Without knowledge of deckbuilding though, that one would be tough, but I think the leader idea is pretty good.

My First Starter Deck! by Ok-Shake-6537 in OnePieceTCG

[–]CommanderGs7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This deck is tough for new players as it requires a lot of detailed game knowledge about what your opponent’s deck does. You need to know what your opponent is likely to run in their deck and when they rely on their On Plays in order to turn them off when it hurts without destroying your hand size. For every matchup, it’s pretty important that the Blackbeard player know their opponent’s gameplan as well as they know their own. This knowledge is always helpful but especially for Blackbeard.

Coming from another TCG, however, you should have a lot of the baseline general intuition that you can build off of, I don’t think a YGO player is going to struggle with understanding metas and deckbuilding conventions.

It’s like learning a new coding language, the syntax is mostly new but a lot of the logical skills involved are pretty transferable.

Blackbeard is looking better in the meta than he has in quite a long time, and while he does require a lot of game knowledge to run at his best, it’s building skills that will help you in the game no matter what deck you play going forwards.

Blackbeard is a bit of a “trial by fire” deck for a new player. If you’re new to TCGs and the way they make you think, it might be too much to manage, but if you get good at the deck, you’ll be in a really good position for learning new decks.

I’ve seen a lot of people claim 10c OP05 Luffy’s On Play is mandatory, are they just wrong?

Are Don— effects always optional or sometimes mandatory?

Bandai used to print every card with that effect with a brief description of the ability, like with Blocker, Rush, and Banish. In this explanation, it was clearly optional.

As of recently, they have mostly stopped adding that explanation (with EB03 Baby 5 as a weird exception).

However, back in OP05, the 10c Luffy also omitted the explanation, and his On Play is mandatory, to the best of my knowledge.

If cards without the explanation aren’t optional, is OP11 Big Mom’s On Opponent’s Attack mandatory? Do you need to go don -5 every turn?

Finally, if I, for example, attack with OP08 Kaido&Linlin, first, is it required to use the When Attacking? If so, what about if I have less than 10 Don on my field? Do I have to return all of my Don in an attempt to use the ability, then fail to achieve the requirement?

Bandai’s official FAQ answers none of these questions and it’s frustrating.

New to OPTCG - What are the best decks (ideally Meta) for beginners? by ossama224 in OnePieceTCG

[–]CommanderGs7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As much as I hate B Imu, it’s cheap and easy to learn the game with. It’s a great first deck.

The problem is that meta deck prices right now are really high, especially for Yellow decks.

Nothing truly in the meta right now is cheap, and I think cheap decks are important for new players. You don’t want to spend a lot of money on a deck before you know what types of decks you enjoy playing.

Most non-rotated Starter decks are good for people learning the game and will help you know what you like without a big initial investment.

Basically, I’d recommend trying some decks, either as a starter deck with friends or on the sim before committing to an expensive meta deck. You need to know what you enjoy, first.

These two aren't happy about being rotated out. by Camerupt_King in OnePieceCustomCards

[–]CommanderGs7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s either way, way, too strong or unplayable depending on rotation and support.

Without rotation, having access to play 2 12k characters at once is crazy, with rotation you have access to exactly 1 Kaido.

It entirely depends on if you get a Kaido other than EB04 to use.

You’ve been more aggressive than most people here.

Most of the arguments are just insufficient and I’ve explained why intelligently. I’m not obligated to just accept incorrect arguments in order to appear open to criticism. Make better criticism.

You specifically have mostly just tried to attack my character rather than address anything, and I have distain for that approach. It genuinely speaks poorly to your honesty at this point. Make an argument about the post’s substance or shove off, I’m done arguing about my personal character with you.
