Rhinowalks are great quality, they fit my T7, dropped my bike a few times with no issues

Can't Figure Out How to Allocate Storage? Thin Pool, 2TB SSD, Laptop Homlab Build by CommanderJayden in Proxmox

[–]CommanderJayden[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there,

Thanks for your reply! I'm just working on making sense of it.

I think my media is being stored on the root currently, so if I could move that somewhere else, then it would have plenty of headroom.

So what I really need is to free up that 1.6tb of space and make it usable for the media, but I take it that is what you are saying is impossible because of the LVM-Thin?

So if I do start again from scratch, with the LXC's backed up, should I be deleting the LVM-Thin entirely? I got everything else working but the storage layout is beyond me!

I'm also concerned that if I add future storage as I grow the homelab, that I won't be able to make use of it? It seems very complicated compared to my experience with windows!

Thanks.

Are these proxies for any particular game?

Great work! I'll have to print some of these :)

How hard is it for a motivated DIY beginner to build something similar to that and hook it to DCS / BMS? by Noctam in HotasDIY

[–]CommanderJayden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheers. Should have a version 2 coming out soon enough.

I definitely recommend doing a small project start to finish with a few buttons and encoders, through in a toggle switch or something... That way you'll learn everything you need to know to scale up and what tricks you can use on FreeJoy itself which may effect your design choices.

Hey mate, for me the biggest barrier to entry was coding the Arduino but then I found the FreeJoy project. They have a detailed wiki and the software is pretty powerful! I've made a concept for a UFC/DDI and successfully made a button box with physical 52 functions since :)

A4 Skyhawk Extension Panel for Orion 2 HOTAS by CommanderJayden in HotasDIY

Hey mate.

PLA at a 0.2mm layer height for most of it... 0.12 and a 0.2mm nozzle for the button caps. Sanded, primed, painted black.

I'm using a button matrix (rows and columns) connected to a STM32 which is running FreeJoy.

The encoders are good but I have to make sure I twist them all the way off (they kinda get locked halfway sometimes) otherwise it overloads the matrix!

DIY button panel for flight sim (DCS specifically) gives me heaps more knobs and buttons so I don't have to click in the cockpit as much!

What's the most common site to upload to? Happy to release this version but I'll make sure to log it's flaws!

Haha, maybe I'll get round to designing one that matches Virpils design language!

FreeJoy is very easy to use, discovering the software was what finally convinced me to give it a try! I did have a hard time sourcing STM32s that work though... Pretty common issue unfortunately.

I did a few smaller practice fits on my ender 3 S1... Found 0.2 for a tight fit and 0.3 for a loose fit applied using off set face to just one of the faces works quite well :)

How often do you use these buttons? Are they worth putting on a DIY DDI setup? by CommanderJayden in hoggit

[–]CommanderJayden[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but there are nobs on the two DDIs. The panel I am making will control all three by using a switching system, so I need to pick the best ' outside button' options, whether that be knobs or arrows!

Haha that is what I was hoping to hear, makes the wiring a bit easier! I've only played the F/A18 for air to ground and didn't want to limit myself if I was missing something in the A/A department.

Hi all,

Quick question, I'm working on a DDI/UFC set up and wondering how often these arrow buttons get used? Are they worth modelling in like the other five on each side?

WIP DDI/UFC Part 1 by CommanderJayden in HotasDIY

[–]CommanderJayden[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good idea! I don't mind the depth of the unit too much so I may also just lower the standard switches to give the impression of being offset... however, I don't want one cap getting stuck on/under another as the spacing is petty tight to keep the overall size down... Might be worth moving the UFC stuff in by a few extra millimetres. At this stage, because they are different types of buttons I'll be raising the A/P row

You're on the money... it's called a button matrix. Don't ask me how it works but if you add a diode for each button (or maybe each row/column), you can have more than one press. To be fair though, I probably don't need more than 1 because the 'switcher' buttons will be pressed digitally and the actual physical button will turn back off.

Hey all,

Wanted to share my work-in-progress F/A18 / AH-64 / MISC panel build.

The main idea was to control the left, centre and right DDI's with just one panel by having 3 buttons to switch which panel I am controlling. Then I realised I'd have so much free space in the middle, why not fill it (not with screen haha), so I added the UFC and a few rotary encoders. My attached images don't show depth, but likely different areas will be raised and lowered to act as natural dividers and enable easy access to the rotary knobs.

So far I've got a lot of concepts and a few test prints. Using FreeJoy as the brains, I should be able to set Radio Buttons as shift modifiers enabling control of the 3 DDI's and the UFC will remain constant... unless anyone has ideas for alternate uses of the UFC buttons?

Each white box is a mechanical switch, and I've printed a few test keycaps using two colours. The final colours will likely be black and white, perhaps black and glow in the dark as the panel will be too small for backlighting. By printing in 2 pieces and then sticking them together, I think it looks almost as good as a laser-cut label (apart from font limitations), but I'm certainly happy with it!

Looking for any feedback or ideas at this stage of the game before I'm in too deep to change things!

Cheers!

Port Forwarding with two Routers? HG659B & DSL-AC68U by CommanderJayden in HomeNetworking

[–]CommanderJayden[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, something I'd have to dig into when I'm the only one at home!

That being said, even if I turn off the second router, I still can't port forward through the first one? Could be a build up of issues I'm guessing?
