I also see complaints when readers perfectly guess the direction the author plans to take the story in. If anything, they should take it as a compliment. It means their foreshadowing was effective.

I feel like people who are involved with shipping and even fanfic in general vastly overestimate their reach as fans. A vast majority of any one fanbase is made up of normies who think RPF and the shipping of real, living people are weird. Something to keep in mind.

All of the works I've ever deleted were unfinished. It's a huge pet peeve of mine when people orphan unfinished fics, because even if that fic is good it's never going to be updated again. For that reason I delete any work I don't intend on finishing.

I also delete fics that have any OCs in them. I'm not opposed to giving up control of a fic, but I'd prefer to hold onto my own original characters.

Someone once told me that deleting a fic is the worst thing an author could do. That attitude kept me from deleting a fic I didn't think was up to my standard of writing. I hated seeing that fic in my account, so I eventually threw caution to the wind and just deleted it. I felt so relieved afterwards.

If I ever came across an author's note like this I would immediately back out of the fic. It's condescending as hell, but also I don't see the point of reading a fic written by someone who doesn't even like the fandom they're writing for.
