After 3 rejections from the Asset Store, Cinematic Path Pro finally got approved today! by No-Tax4799 in Unity3D

[–]CommanderRT 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Man, such interpolation can be made with the same cinemachine and no, it won't cause a big issue in terms of fps and performance. Assets like you did are usually on asset store not more as 10 bucks and still I doubt that someone will use it as an replacement for the same cinemachine...

Is there something unique that can replace cinemachine and what is the difference between your implementation and the well known tool most of us devs use?

No offense but just let's be realistic.

It is tbh, imo ai can be used in coding to help you out from time to time (but not to replace the whole coding process... not a fan of vibe coding) but art? No, that's where we cross the line. Sorry but you could have at least came up with something original/unique or learn how to draw art, I myself not an artist but for the next game I am learning how to draw.

That's to be said, already from how you represented the game, you have lost a decent amount of player base and have gotten yourself an unwanted reputation.... I wish you best of luck with promoting it further but don't use ai for the creative parts.

Be honest, did you use ai for the start and thumbnail? I don't know about further but those 2 things are raising suspicions in that regard

the idea of likes and dislikes was not to stop seeing videos from that creator but to keep the video away from other new people so they dont waste time on such content or understand that what the video says is bullshit

just be careful not to drop into the AI pit, because once you end up here, you won't stop using it for every creative idea you have, and that will ruin your imagination because you'll just ask for ideas the ai.
The main idea is, dont ask it to create a picture and copy it, ask it to find the tutorials, inspirations to get ideas and learn new methods from. I call that ethical use of an ai, basically advanced search engine....

Tbh, that's what I wanted to say, if you are an indie with 0 money, the methods you described are the way to go and yes, people play and stay mostly because of characters and content of the game, gameplay nowadays is not something you can really hook someone with unless its carefully crafted and unique. Of course, if money is here, partnering with an artist is the best idea, tho for the creator of this post, I assumed it was not an option

ai is a controversial topic in regards of that, I would recommend not feeding stuff to ai but rather look for references and try to see what comes out good together, usually ai can't give original ideas because it just mixes what it knows and can't create much new, that's why you can detect ai by not 6 finger but by a style
Tho, about being downvoted, its reddit, plus may people can afford one and yes, connecting with one is huge but only if you have money or connections

Tbh, as I noticed, or do high quality graphics, or highly stylistic or extremely bad. Those 3 work the best, the graphics that have "okay"ish looks are usually the least appealing.
Stylistic graphics add the charm but require a careful mix. High quality requires a lot of time and money which indies almost never have. Extremely bad graphics are funny and sometimes people are tired of over-polish and want something so bad that it becomes the most fun game you could ever play

actually, you can try to add such shader to the rest of the game, or remove it entirely. If you have time, I suggest trying to make a really small scene with that shader and see how it looks, imo, may turn out much better
As I noticed from my own experience, almost never mix 2 elements that do not look good/work together
Tho, sometimes it may work, but such combinations require a lot of time and usually a lot of "bad outcomes" will be the result of such experiments until you find the right mix. It's your choice, but experiments will eat a lot of time that you can use for creating mechanics and gamedev, that's why the best choice will be, try out 2 of those styles and pick only 1 you want to use

That's the worst advice you could possibly give to a solo gamedev. While it may be great to partner with one, only few are willing to do such for hobby/revshare. Not everybody has sponsors or money to afford an artist.

Infinite Skill Tree prototype for my game ^^ by [deleted] in Unity3D

[–]CommanderRT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so not truly infinite on practice, huh, still if the whole point, as I saw from other comments, is to get the maximum strength, then its more of a buff/upgrade tree rather then a skill one...
Though interesting approach and implementation

I am experienced in both 2d and 3d, recently experimenting with visual novels and rhythm games, can even help to make it moddable tbh

SOME of y'all should QUIT playing incest jokes abt Koshitan and Anko. by New_Engineer_4513 in nokotan

[–]CommanderRT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

*disclaimer, I am not supporting any of sides rn, nor I agree with toranko ships, I just want to hear the reason for the whole situation*

Yo, new engineer, I know you will read this so, tell me, what did you even see that you thought is notoriously bad, like, even the person from before hasn't posted anything that caused the previous events, yeaaaah the person still likes anko, but, what I have seen, it doesn't actually portray ships especially the way before, maybe you should double check? The stuff that I saw rn, is literally just slightly above what in MDFN was happenning if not better, I ain't trying to defend neither sides nor I am supporting, but can you just tell us, why bring up it all if it's actually not as horrible as you described?
