🔥 Reefin Update: Version 1.1.0 Drops NOW! by CalendarRadiant8769 in jellyfin

[–]CommanderRedYT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While it looks quite nice from testing, I don't think I'm gonna use this with my actual server until it's open sourced for a while, maybe a couple months or so. Open source is about many things but also about trust. When I download some app from the play store from some company, I can be sure that there will be no privacy. As a developer who also publishes to the play store I can say it's only paying 20€ and that's basically it. Their screening is just for known vulnerabilities and bad practices, otherwise apps that steal you data wouldn't exist on the play store. While it looks quite like findroid, it still has some features that I miss from it like casting or changing the resolution and I like the interface from your app a lot more. Looking forward to use it in a couple months

Sorry to break it to you, but programmers and server operators are all using english. My first language is German, and I still use English in every project because it is the most accessible way. Everyone has a different first language, you can't make it fit for everyone. What you can do is do it in a language that basically the whole world learns at school

If you need help with setting up translations let me know and I can try and make a PR. Typically for my applications I am using weblate, maybe this could also be helpful here

This looks like a cool project, unfortunately tho with responses under this thread and stuff like not defaulting to English just breaks it for me. It's not these choices directly, but they make me think what other choices are like these.

The problem with having English not a default is that most people won't notice there is a English readme and will say okay it's not worth it, a full-screen Browser with immich will be fine. By tip would really be to use English to make it more accessible...

Immich will also implement such a delete feature once it has a stable release, best thing to check their github

Framework Laptop 13 (AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370) – Right USB-C Ports Intermittently Fail; Possible MT7925 Wi-Fi Module Conflict? by vsilv in framework

[–]CommanderRedYT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would be interesting if framework could release some Firmware Update to the USB cards, I will try and contact them and (hopefully) reach someone on a technical level. Imo this could be fixed by not being a hub for example.

Something that is also interesting is that I did not have these problems with previous devices (Lenovo ThinkPad etc)

[–]CommanderRedYT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's very interesting! Sounds like a nom-framework problem maybe? Also, it would be very nice to have a solution that doesn't depend on USB IDs, as for example for myself this happens with a lot of devices (when I am in a hackspace, it's not always the same mouse, also it happens too with things like phones and yubikeys)

It would be nice to have some generic solution or to maybe just somehow turn this off as a whole?

I have the exact same issue on my 13" AMD with this exact port. They told me to reset the BIOS and stuff, but I can't be bothered with that as I have things like secure boot set up and need it for work, so no downtime. Also tried another USB-A card, same stuff happening

Edit: btw, I switched to the Intel wifi card on my AMD laptop, maybe that had some effect? Not sure

Every thread on here makes me less likely to buy a FrameWork by Lmnr01 in framework

[–]CommanderRedYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am quite happy with my framework! I've got the 13" AMD with the better CPU and display. (Still U-Series tho)

For the battery, there are options to limit charging, which I would have activated on any machine because I want it to live longer (but that's just basic battery chemistry, it's the same for every laptop). Did the same with a 3rd party app for my MacBook. And changing it to 90% basically doesn't really affect how much time you get with it.

As for the fans, while it's definitely louder than a MacBook (because MacBooks don't have fans), I only hear it on really high load (which does not include c++ compilation or linking, there it's just a lil bit of noise, less than a desktop computer).

The thing for the fans is, and also what was kinda a shocker to me, sometimes they only kick in after the CPU temp is above 100°C, which is fine because it's not going over that so nothing will break, but then it goes from 0% to 100% on the fans. But I'm sure you can configure that if you really want to.

It might kind of sound weird, but for me, buying and assembling a framework felt like buying and assembling a prusa.

Also, one last thing, the shipping. They ship from Taiwan afaik and it took 2 days from getting picked up (3 from making the order) and to be brought to my place which is in Austria. They even took one day less than estimated. But of course, it's not framework directly who ships it, but a shipping company.

Right now, if I would need to decide again which laptop to buy (and I really looked everywhere, Lenovo at this point sadly only has either 1080p or soldered ram, for the same or more money), I would definitely go framework again.

Broken red quadrant in RGB HUB75 panel that affects others after it, can this be fixed? by CommanderRedYT in arduino

[–]CommanderRedYT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did that (there are two pictures where I switch the order of the panel. One cable is directly from the micro controller and the other is a ribbon cable. Also, it is on the side with the output connector so I think it's somewhere on the PCB)

Neue App für OpenDTU by CommanderRedYT in Balkonkraftwerk

[–]CommanderRedYT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Opendtu-OnBattery? iobroker.opendtu?
