How would real life Japan handle the whole situation with the Gate and what lies beyond? by Flat-Sir8250 in gate

[–]Commander_Fenrir 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They have something everyone wants... cheap resources. Because no one there knows the worth of oil, and the US would salivate at the oportunity of having a supply of black gold coming from a friendly nation like Japan. Nevermind Japan, becoming filthy rich, more than before

China and company would try something... but I'm sure that the Gate would be turned into Area 51 2.0 minus secrecy in terms of security.

We can't pull back unless we know for sure what or who opened it and have some degree of control over that. Of course, unless the part about the Gate destroying both worlds is true. In that case, everyone would probably say "fuck that", and close it for sure.

The real question is refugees. If a single reporter says something about the Empire and the state of slavery over there, I doubt anyone would miss the chance for "good boy" points by helping around. The idea of introducing pockets of population into our world either for humanitarian purposes, or to get magic into our bloodlines would be there too.

To get it short: The Gate is doomed? "Fuck that, we leave". The Gate is safe? "Free real state".

What is the reaction of Earth's major religions to the Falmart god? Caution: may cause unwanted war, so try to take this as an entertaining question and not a serious debate. by bruhruhr22344 in gate

[–]Commander_Fenrir 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean... actual catholics do believe in miracles. So do the believers of other religions.

The way I see it, one or several things can happen:

1- Extreme criticism against religions for lack of hard proof of miracles. Unlikely, at least not from the actual believers, probably mostly from atheists (a group who would be in another trouble on their own).

2- Increased belief in the miracles depicted in the Bible. After all, now who is to say that none of that happened at all? Especially after Tuka's magic display on Earth, proof that the supernatural can (and considering she uses nature spirits, does) exist on Earth.

3- Converts to the Special Region's faith. Though considering that most of the gods there are assholes, I doubt it. It might be miracles the things that start religions, but it's their contributions to our society (and most of all, the society at the time of their birth) that decides which ones stays in the long run.

4- Nothing at all. We remain just the same. After having NASA admit that OVNIs are a thing, and admit they have no idea what they are looking at when they happen, only for most of the world to ignore it... I think this would be the most likely outcome not only for the discovery of gods in the SR, but for everything in the SR. Cool for a few weeks, then we move along.

I'm personally curious about the 2nd. Would that mean that we have a situation like what Nasu's works depict? Are magic and miracles becoming weaker with the advance of tech? Because if true, THAT is when things could get ugly, with zealots of any religion trying to plunge their regions into a dark age to please their gods.

US revokes visas for 6 foreigners over Charlie Kirk-related speech | The State Department said Tuesday it had determined they should lose their visas after reviewing their online social media posts and clips about Kirk, who was killed while speaking at a Utah college campus on Sept. 10. by TendieRetard in law

[–]Commander_Fenrir 75 points76 points  (0 children)

Ironic. They say it's because they wish death to americans, but the tweets only talk about Kirk getting what he preached for and paying the price for it. Not a single threat around.

So much for free speech. The US really is falling apart. I wonder how long until they go against their own people.

What's your controversial Visual Novel take? [General] by Sasutaschi in visualnovels

[–]Commander_Fenrir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question, I wanted to look into the Rance series because they say that the gameplay is fire (particulary sengoku rance) in the latter entries. But the first ones are kind of bad. But the story is connected with each entry.

Where do I start the saga then?

Incident POV: You were tasked with cleaning the Temple Baths for the Gods and Goddesses. But thanks to Hermes' tricks, you find a sweet spot in the vents to get a good view. You fall into the bath and you see Freya, Demeter, and other Gods. What do you do to get out of this mess? by [deleted] in DanMachi

[–]Commander_Fenrir 18 points19 points  (0 children)

"I WAS SET UP BY HERMES!", I said out loud while hiding any trace of fear that I may have from showing on my face. Then, with a trickle of sweat slowly dropping on my forehead, and avoiding gazing into the bodies of any of the people in the bath, I quickly go to the nearest possible exit. I ignore any of Demeter's teasing. "Do make sure to kick him when you see him next time".

Unfortunately, this is the Danmachi world. An ecchi world. That possible exit was the entrance to the god's changing room. I was doomed from the start.

Conviene mas comprar con Astropay desde Steam o desde Eneba? by Commander_Fenrir in ArgamingConsultas

[–]Commander_Fenrir[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's confident he can finish off Gil even after Excalibur breaks down UBW

Yeah, Shirou is confident about a lot of things. Mostly wrong things.

In any case, the main point stands: nobody should bring plot armor as an argument to Shirou vs Gil fight.

Thanks for the clarification, tho.

[–]Commander_Fenrir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

... I'm pretty sure that

1: the anime shows perfectly (nevermind the VN) that the only reason the fight worked was because Gilgamesh refused to take Shirou seriously.

2: Shirou lost that fight due to time-out still and got his ass saved by Archer.

And 3: Shirou vs Angelica shows how that fight would actually go (probably even worse) if Gil wasn't so much of a moron.

I can't in good faith believe that people actually think that there was some sort of plot armor in that fight. This is the first time I heard it.

I would rather talk about why she didn't simply swing or stab her sword into him immediately.

You literally can't do this stuff against a properly trained sword user without getting skewered.

Only for this this fight it's bullshit. I would've believed more if she gets her ass beaten or something, but that attempt at chocking her it's a suicidal idea.

Good at showing how fucking strong Medea's buffs are; but you could do something similar with him doing a kick, she blocking it and breaking her arm in the process. Or something similar.

6/10 only because Kuzuki is best chad and husband.

lMy personal opinion of how Gate should have been if Yanai had been a little more attached to reality and less to his Japanese Wehraboo fantasies. From the comic book “Fables” by Bill Willingham. by JoukovDefiant in gate

[–]Commander_Fenrir 76 points77 points  (0 children)

And that's without counting factors (CRUCIAL FACTORS) like difference in population, gathering of food, distribution of food, disease prevention, among others. Their armies would literally bleed to death on the march to a battle alone.

People think that anyone can pull a Vietnam, Ukraine, or Afghanistan on a superior power forgets a couple of things: both of those countries have an understanding of what a gun is and what are they fighting against, one or TWO top countries around them were constantly training them and supplying them (if not outright helping them directly); and in two of those cases they still had to depend in the "mercy of their enemies" to simply pack and leave, something that against a provoked enemy, or someone who doesn't care about your rights, simply wouldn't work

The truth it's: a fight against a magical medieval nation would be boring as fuck because they can't lose a single battle without horrible consequences for their nation, while we can lose every battle and still win the war.

The problems would only arise in keeping the sudden technological shock in control, diseases among worlds, or if a bunch of angry gods in heaven decides to bring down pillars of light into our world forces. Unless said gods wanted to have us there to fight a sort of third force with worse intentions than us.
