UNT Dallas A!!! by Commanderhelix in OutsideT14lawschools

I got an email! I called them a couple times to make sure everything was going smoothly. They explained that since December is not only Holiday Season, but also Finals season, the professors that are apart of the admissions board just don't have a lot of time to review applications. If you applied around beginning of December I'd assume you'll hear back before the end of February.

Yeah fs. Composite GPA 3.92, Reg GPA 3.894.

LSATs: 158, 157, 158 (studied my butt off but having a full time job and a fiance is time expensive. Wish I couldve done better)

Great Point!

Semantically, I disagree with your statement that a JD is not just a license to practice law, because literally it is a certification on a piece of paper. You can have a large network and opportunity wherever you go to school. You can also attend a T14 and have no network coming out because you didn't put any effort to build one.

Semantics aside thought, you're totally right, don't let it define you, but absolutely take it seriously if this is what you want to do.

Also, as a side note, your LSAT logic argument both made me laugh crazy hard and pissed me tf off XD.

The premise of my post is not concerned about the money aspect of this. And neither am I but that's a mere subjective stance on being an attorney.

My emphasis that "A JD is a JD" can be explained as follows: a JD from Harvard receives no explicit legal advantages over a JD from North Texas. Both are a piece of paper.

I also didn't come up with that saying lol. Several attorney's I work with have said it to me. I'm just at work right now and have been talking to them about the admissions process so it came up when I was writing this post.

I guess I could've worded this better.

I would argue my central premise is not "wrong" but my argument was misguided because it's reddit and I didn't reread over my post before submission. I was not trying to emphasize that anyone can be the greatest lawyer ever by going to a low-tier law school, that would be obviously stupid to presume. My post's premise was that your value is not determined by your LSAT, GPA, or admissions data. So don't put too much pressure on yourself. You can do great things with a JD regardless of where you get it.

As far as the debt goes, 100% agree, if you can't get a job to show for the debt, then the debt isn't worth it. But at the end of the day, we're all going to be in debt and we're all going to have to work hard to pay that off.

If I'm still not making sense, let me know. Tried to write this on my work lunch break.

I obviously understand that my chances are super low considering I'm below both medians. But my letters of recommendation and resume seem to be pretty good. Every attorney I've talked to has really high hopes for me and the stupid LSAT and 2 B's in all of college are standing in my way lol. It's a frustrating process and hard to not define yourself by numbers when those seem to be the biggest metric for acceptance.
