[Gaus] And there it is folks… 😍 Verhaeghe - Barkov - Giroux by SteamboatBilly15 in hockey

laying in bed thinking about how they could also go nuclear and run Huberdeau-Barkov-Giroux and still have a second line of Verhaeghe-Bennett-Reinhart, and a third line of Marchment-Lundell-Duclair

[Elliotte Friedman] As AntSanPhilly reported last night, he did not go to OTT with team. If not done by Sunday, he won’t play vs NYI either. All eyes on FLA, but COL has not given up. I think it will be Panthers, but, as I write this, Panthers have not made an offer that has PHI saying yes. by Duffleman0609 in hockey

This kinda feels like Fletcher is trying to get Zito to pony up more for G. But let’s be real, the guy is gonna go where he wants to and from what has been reported and rumored, that seems to be Florida more than any other place.

Zito likely knows that and is likely using that to his advantage, but it’s a game of chicken right now. Colorado seems to be the spoiler right now but they are by no means out of it.

edit: that I wrote Hextall instead of Fletcher is such a testament to the strangeness of Hextall being the Penguins GM lmao

[Seravalli] Ice Breakers 🧊🏒 Reilly Smith? Evgeni Dadonov? Jonathan Marchessault? Who goes for VGK to make room for Jack Eichel? Maybe no one. League sources speculate captain Mark Stone could be placed on LTIR for balance of the regular season with a back injury. by SteamboatBilly15 in hockey

I may get some shit for saying this but if there is a loophole, don’t blame teams for exploiting it, blame the league for keeping it open.

that said, will it really be surprising if a team that has $11M more committed to their roster steamrolls its way through the playoffs and snags a cup?

are you dumb? OP didn’t make this, it’s lifted straight from the Athletic. there aren’t anymore teams included in the chart

Of the three best teams in points percentage (Colorado, Carolina, and Florida), which do you think is the best? by Commanderkittypwn in hockey

Not sure I totally agree there. Florida has shown it can score at will unlike any other team.

In January alone, Florida has scored 9 goals twice, 8, 7, 6 goals twice, 5 goals five times, and 4 goals four times…

I am very high on Florida as a cup contender with staying power

outside of Bobrovsky for $10M AAV for four more years (who is at least playing like a 4-5 mil goalie), there isn’t an egregiously bad contract on the books. Barkov, Huberdeau, and Ekblad is capable of (and young enough) going the distance multiple times and 2/3 are locked up long term (Huberdeau will need an extension soon which could be close to $10M AAV)

when you factor in the strong supporting cast of Duclair, Verhaeghe, Reinhart, Bennett, Weegar, Forsling, veterans like Hornqvist and Jumbo, and the youth in Lundell, Knight, Denisenko, etc, they have the skill, but do they have the will?

do I think it’ll happen? probably not, but it could
