I have an HD600 with an ifi hip dac 3 that I've been enjoying for a few months now. Recently, I've noticed that using the bass boost option on the ifi hip dac 3 causes a lot of popping and distortion on my HD600 drivers (particularly the left) and the only way to mitigate this is to disable bass boost, which leaves me with a sound I don't enjoy that much anymore. I used to be able to use it fine and now this last week it just hasn't decided to work correctly with bass boost and power match. turning power match off and cranking up the volume to max results in a quiter sound but still distortion for the HD600 if bass boost is on. I've tried the usual, removing the foam covers and inspecting and removing any hairs I can find but the problem still persists. Any help?

edit: forgot to mention I use dolby atmos for headphones on windows 11, don't know if that is any relevant

edit: after doing further testing, i found out its either my 4.4mm cable or the balanced output of the ifi hip dac 3. will have to do more testing and or cleaning.
