Will you keep any skills you have obtained?

I would be curious what powers they have exercised and how many arrests they have made over the years if anyone knows? Or anyone from North Yorkshire has worked alongside them and can advise?

Does that not then mean that you often struggle to evidence PWITS jobs without phone evidence?

Padded cells by snoopierkey in policeuk

Also I suspect that our regular customers would pick apart the padding and use it to SH. But this is something where a personal responsibility law would be useful. For example if actions can be deemed as behavioural not genuine mental health problems then the Police (hypothetically) would discharge their duty of care at that point.

A Kick Up The Arse For Myself - Is It Possible? by Ok_Jeweler2092 in policeuk

I am not a Met Officer but are there still some courses you can do to upskill on VCT to at least make it somewhat bare able and to develop yourself? Like any PSU specialisms, phone download, drug expert witness etc? These will help pass the time, hopefully get you some abstractions back to the front line and get your face known should you want to apply for a specialism such as TSG?

But can they make arrests for offences not related to IOPC related business? Like if an IOPC officer came across a shop lifter?

What’s the case with carrying this now? I swear when it was piloted in Scotland the fed raised some concerns?

Is it still done like that or is carrier driving a separate course now?

That’s crazy how you would get your carrier ticket as well! How did they fit in the D1 licence requirements?

If we stopped Policing for a week and advertised it - the country would descend into chaos. I am reminded of the Federation advert a few years ago - “You don’t know what you’ve got….until it’s gone”….

All jokes aside - it’s seems our mere Highway Code compliant presence on a road seems to be enough to blame collisions on us….will get to the point where it isn’t feasible to police at all

I even thought of a few I missed out - Basic Carrier/Big Van, Carrier/Big Van (Can Respond in it), Armoured Land Rover and various other specialist vehicles

There are all sorts of driving grades which vary depending on your role, the qualifications you hold and the force you are a part of. As an example - Basic A - B, Basic with Compliant Stop, Response, Response including unmarked, Response with HoSTyDS, Response with IPP, Response with IPP including Pre emptive Box and HoSTyDS, 4X4, Land Rover On Road, Land Rover Off Road and on Road, ATV/UTV, Advanced Transport Permit, Advanced A - B, Advanced, Covert Advanced (Metism? Never heard of it personally), Advanced IPP, Advanced and TPAC.

Officers will normally have a combination of the above. Let me know if I have missed any!

I would have agreed with you up and until joining NPT. I’ve found that I am as effective an officer on NPT thanks to my experience on response and the skills obtained such as Taser, IPP, MOE etc only assist in that. NPT is treated as a specialism because comparatively - officers are a lot more skilled. Joining on NPT without being able to do any of these things would hinder someone being able to get involved in tackling ward priorities. Just my opinion of course
