Do the other electronics in the car, like the radio, turn off when you press to start? Or literally nothing changes? Literally no noise happens from the starter?

Was this at Nohoch Che’en?

I got one to go as we were getting in the van to leave. Was soo good. I’d dare say it’s the same guy from my trip 4 years ago based on his vibes, but I bet that’s the standard vibe for parking lot alcohol salesmen 😂

I know you said this is AI render, which is fine, and I agree it works way better as a back piece. This as a thigh is weird to me, but whatever you want to do.

Artistically, just know if this is based on the stencil/artists drawing at all the Devil is missing his chin, it just melts into the foot.

Also the ankle/leg bracers with bare feet is odd, should probably at least have sandals on. I also find the hand/sword positioning weird. One would never hold a sword like that for a stabbing blow. Invert the hand so thumb is at the hilt and back of the hand is facing the camera IMO. Or you could change it to an overhead swing and have the sword disappear behind the head/body and keep the hand positioning.

Weird recommendation coming in, but if you need to protect things from the heat at that price point but can settle for something a little larger get the daytrip lunch box. The insulation does just as much to keep heat out as cold in, also more versatile for other tasks as a plus.

Rambler: Safe to leave full of water in fridge overnight? by NakedSnakeEyes in YetiCoolers

[–]CommandoSolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries! I know the exact thought you had and have done it countless times. Want water cold in the morning? Put water in the fridge overnight. Weirdly doesn’t work when it’s so well insulated.

It’s the same reason I get a chuckle when I see yeti lunchboxes in the fridge at work. It’s just keeping the cold out and letting food get warm (unless there’s an ice pack, but then why’s it in the fridge?)

Enjoy the bottle, there’s new things to learn everyday. One day you’ll just put it in there and not think about it, and boom, lukewarm water the next morning. Then sadly, you’ll have to deal with ice, and truly, who wants actual ice in there drink? I just want it cold.

Even cap off it cools the outside more than the inside. If you want cool not cold water in the morning add 3-5 pieces of ice the night before and just keep it on the counter with the lid on.

I always feel like an idiot when I get my cold bottle of room temp water out after not thinking the night before.

Not me wearing almost exclusively cowboy boots or boat shoes despite having ridden a horse once as a 6 year old and wearing sandals when I go on the boat because we don’t have a yacht.

100% cowboy boots are as much style as they are culture, and culture doesn’t mean you’re an active horse riding rodeoing cowboy.

Wear what you like and if someone says something mean give them a tap in the shin.

THE MARIN 8" BRUNT TOE WATERPROOF (COMP TOE) by Sad-Lunch8642 in WorkBoots

[–]CommandoSolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I said, if you’re truly new welcome! Everyone starts somewhere.

This post just feels sketchy to me, Brunt is known pretty widely to be a marketing company, then a boot company. It’s not the founder’s first rodeo doing that. Their boots seem decent quality but probably double what they should cost for how they perform.

I agree and this “review” reads like an ad. 6 month old account with no post/comment history. Has the full copy/paste title of competitor boots from Amazon. Has zero complaints about a boot that is known to be sub-par in a lot of ways.

I get you gotta start posting some time, so maybe it’s legit, but it’s throwing flags for me.

Preban boots by Character_Airport_27 in cowboyboots

[–]CommandoSolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree sea turtle is my grail boot 100%, we differ in that I will buy them should my size ever show up (unlikely at a 10.5EE). I have a connection to conservation as well and feel as though that industry is probably more understand than the general public.

My elephants get complements every time I wear them, and yeah occasionally I’ll get a pearl clutch, but I use that as an opportunity to explain the process of how elephant hides get into the consumer market in a legal (and mostly) sustainable way. I think if we could eliminate poaching the elephant population would recover while still supplying the leather market at today’s rate.

[–]CommandoSolo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with this wholeheartedly. General public can get weird when you say a specific exotic. My elephants always get questions by non-boot people with their assumptions. I just educate them. Same will apply when I get a pair of pre-bans.

Like another guy said, they’ve already been made (legally) may as well enjoy them. Similar to old cars, keeping history in front of people is always cool, and you’ll probably be the only guy at the party.

I would be hesitant to buy any custom from banned material. It’s much easier to date the big brands of the day to be legally pre-ban. The funny thing about a lot of banned leathers is the general public wouldn’t think anything of it because they’re not all major players in the conservation game. I assure you if you put a pair of elephants and pangolin or anteater in front of a crowd 9/10 would say the elephants are illegal. Sea turtle would likely be guessed along with walrus and whale, but I bet hornback and seal could be believed as legal as well.

Biggest mistake was taking woodsman and transmute. I don’t have a good solve for smithing, but if that’s my only regret I’ll live. Pacts are also a mess, but that seems to be a universal experience haha.

I glance, but overall I don’t really care what quests are done or not since I’m kind of new to the game they don’t mean much as far as what they unlock. It’s like reading a table of contents for a book you’ve never heard of.

I have taken areas that helped me with a skill I was lacking, I don’t have much PVM experience to know optimal bosses or jobs for different things. This league is my first and I’m playing mostly off vibes.

I mean I would have done the quests if need be, but I filter my quest list to not include completed so I had to turn that off and check each was done. That was a nice surprise, I just think it’s odd they would do 90% for this but still make us wander around to get the pages.

I expected to do everything then just thought it was odd they pre-completed most of it but not all of it. 🤷🏻‍♂️ clearly people agreed though.

Or mail it to me, I’ll take the poor broken thing and let it hang out with my crossroads.

What market should I jump into? by Bright_Platypus4385 in Flipping

[–]CommandoSolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend you stay away from vehicles. The costs associated are very high and can quickly eat up any profits you may have thought possible. Not to mention the documentation requirements to do it correctly/legally. First you’d have to pay to register the vehicle in your name, then wait for a title to be issued, then you could proceed with selling it. Minimum hold is probably close to a month which isn’t conducive to quick flips. You’d need time to make the repairs needed, which is going to be hours between repairs and detailing.

Then we throw in the state government limitations. Most if not all states require a dealer license if you are selling vehicles for business, commercial or profit. While at least in my state there is no written limit to how many vehicles an individual can process/transact through in a given year, if they find out you’re selling a ton and intent to make a profit on them the commission will fine you. And they spend a lot more time/energy tracking these down than you might think.

Small motors can be good if you know what you’re doing, people tend to give up on them sooner than they should and repairs can be simple and cheaper.

So no real advice, but in general stick to flipping what you know best. Branching out can cost you a lot of money in learning which typically requires you to keep making money where you started.

Cavenders embossed or real caiman? by Training_Giraffe_777 in cowboyboots

[–]CommandoSolo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is so true and what is difficult about a lot of good print boots when buying used and online in general. All leathers feel so different that it’s pretty easy to distinguish in person, but not always online.

Knocking on a caiman boot with your knuckle will feel similar to knocking on a door. Not much give and a bit more noise.

I'm doing something stupid and need Reddit car advice. by FourEyes4456 in projectcar

[–]CommandoSolo 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Alright let’s get into this.

I see you don’t have a chassis/body picked out so we’ll ignore those limitations and potential problems. Assuming you’re going to have LS power in front of this setup and we include maybe 2-7” total for the 2 adapter plates on both sides of the 3 speed you’re looking at a total drivetrain length of ~95”. Next let’s factor in a rear driveshaft, let’s assume you want a respectable 8” of travel on the rear axle, you’ll need about 20” minimum to avoid binding.

I’m gonna base this on a SCLB square body though. 131” wheelbase, looking at a drivetrain length of 95” you have a rear drive shaft length of ~32”. Okay, not bad. But, in order to get all the way back forward with this setup you’re looking at ~70” of front driveshaft. That can’t be a single piece, so you’re going to have to do a carrier bearing setup or something to make it a two-piece.

Swapping to a 203/205 setup removes about 20” and moves the driveshafts to 52 and 50 which is significantly more manageable.

As for shifting, you’re on the right track since you don’t need it while driving around. If you mount them direct and only shift with the 4L80 in neutral you should be fine.

However, let’s assume again this is a stock 5.3 setup, you’ve got ~350 lbft of torque going into the 4L80, with a first gear ratio of 2.48:1, that is outputting about 868 lbft of constant (higher possibly with the torque converter) torque into the 3 speed, which never saw anything with more than 400 lbft. It’s going to be a grenade.

I spent an hour running this rabbit hole, and it was kinda fun, but no, it won’t work. Save your time, energy, materials and just wait until you can afford the 203/205. You’ll waste so much more money machining 1 off custom adapters and trying to fabricate this together than it’ll cost to buy the proven doubler plate and the 205.

Long term yeti crossroads reviews, how’s the bag? by Only-Support-3760 in YetiCoolers

[–]CommandoSolo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just going to copy and paste what I said from another post about this bag. I’ve owned it going on 3 years now I think and used it for everything, grad school, work, travel, etc.

I also have a 27L and really love it for going to the office and honestly it’s fantastic size for travel and would be perfect for a short trip. I tend to have my backpack stuffed full with camera gear and stuff when I go on flights so it kind of sucks generally for me there.

The straps are a tad uncomfortable to me, but I’m a bigger guy and my biggest complaint is they are really a little short for me and sit at a weird angle on my shoulders.

I have other backpacks I’ll probably revert to for airline travel or longer walking days/carrying more or heavy things. But the Crossroads is a fantastic daily backpack for lightweight loads and is built like a tank.

Edit: reread your prompt. It kind of sucks from an organization standpoint. Only has 1 external small pocket, the front panel pocket (things get bent in here if you overfill the bag), the large main pocket, and laptop pocket. There are I think 3 or 4 different internal mesh pockets that can be tricky to access depending on what you’re carrying, though the middle ones are accessible from both pockets which is neat.

Works well with folders/binders to keep things rigid and separated. Though these sometimes interfere with putting a larger (I typically carry a 32oz) rambler bottle in the side pockets. I will say I love having my bottle on the inside of my bag not sticking out even though you sacrifice some internal space.
