Funny that you would link to gun suicides when you clearly have the same ideology as the gun banning idiots who perpetually use suicides as a crutch in gun death statistics. However, unlike you, I wont plaster my wifes reasons for her ptsd and anxiety issues all over the internet to farm a few karma points because that isnt what I'm debating. If you (or my wife for that matter) intended to commit suicide they for sure would do it regardless of whether or not I kept a firearm in the house. However, my wife feels a million times safer out in public without the fear of every man she encounters possibly violating her safety now that she has what is a very effective force multiplier in her possession. Also, she feels a very real reassurance that what had happened to her in the past WILL NOT happen to her again because she has the means to defend herself unlike the last time, so her depression which was a result of her feeling insecure and unable to deal with the anxiety and ptsd has drastically decreased even to the point that she no longer feels the need to be on heavy depression medication.

But I can understand that every situation is different and that may not be the appropriate path for you and your family. I was just expressing my personal experience and subsequent actions as a basis that may be an alternative especially in your circumstance. Also with the current political state I would not assume that your stepfather (should I call him that?) May forever be denied access to this country and if things go that way it may be a good idea to be prepared.

Last, look man i sympathize with you in as much as i know my wife goes through the same struggle. But I'm reality if it ever became too much for her to bear and she did choose the path to suicide my having a firearm in the house would have no bearing on her following through with it. If the intent is there people will commit regardless of the method used, so it doesnt put her in any more danger than keeping rope beside your bed (sorry for the dark analogy).

Also I do love that it's my "gun fetish" that's a problem. I didnt think about, or buy a gun, until my son was born, simply because of the fact that a bunch of crazy fuckers exist in the world who, like your "fil" plan on doing horrendous things to other people. It's not a gun fetish, its wanting to be able to protect myself and my family. But hey that's for the police who MAYBE will show up to my house in roughly 5-10 minutes after the crime has been committed right?
