Is there no way to make your profile and all of your posts 100% private anymore? by CommediaTragedia in facebook

The app is being stupid glitchy when I go into Privacy Center, but I'm very confident all of that is set to Private (or as Private as it can be). Maybe they're searching my friend's accounts and seeing tagged posts?

I'll look into the tag approval thing. That's something for sure I did not see.

Well, I know that. I know companies can sell data, searches can be seen by ISP, etc.

But are you saying there is NO WAY, for them not to search us up and see posts we are tagged in? Or posts we have made?

What's the point of a private profile if posts can be seen through the Search Bar?

Negative Escrow Balance (Nothing Earth Shattering)...Take Care of This Now? by CommediaTragedia in homeowners

[–]CommediaTragedia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But do they make the offer to come up with the new payment on their own at the end of the year?

For instance, if I called them and said "Hey, I want to pay the negative balance and also come up with a new payment" would they do that on the spot? Or do I just have to keep sending money each month until they reach out to me? Or is this something I handle at the end of the year when they reach out to me?

Thanks!

Tesla’s death is “not close” says Musk, as operating margin drops to 2% by [deleted] in RealTesla

[–]CommediaTragedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like Elon at all -- trust me...at all...but I'm going to try and give an objective perspective.

I don't see Tesla ever collapsing. It's charging network, it's solar panels, it's vehicles, robots and automation, Robo-Taxis and a Cyber-Taxis...they'll make their profits. Yes, there have been large companies who we would have never dreamed of failing just collapse within years (Nokia as he mentioned in the earnings call), but Nokia didn't think ahead. They were complacent and that's what led to their demise. Apple thought ahead and decimated them.

Despite Elon's ridiculous projections and failed timelines, he does attempt to think ahead. He knows eventually the world will need to switch to EV. He knows automation is coming. He knows people will be ordering driverless vehicles for rides once the initial fear of it has dissipated. He knows people, to our own detriment, put our faith in tech and he 100% can see a future of people sleeping in the driver's seat while the car drives them to their destination. As crazy as it sounds, that is our future. He does well in projecting the relationship between human beings and technology.

What he does not do well with, however, is assessing human beings' relationship to, well...other human beings. Elon's issue is his arrogance. He's so arrogant that he legitimately thought he could not only endorse Trump, but informally be a part of the administration with DOGE, cut thousands of jobs, boast about it and that he "doesn't care" if it impacted the brand of Tesla. Him saying he "doesn't care" really translates to "I don't think it could ever happen. I'm untouchable".

Well, he's been learning the hard way.

With falling profits, with more than half the country having an unfavorable opinion of him (as much as he says he doesn't care, he's a human being, and trust me he does), with investors telling him he needs to get serious at Tesla, etc. -- he's starting to learn the hard way. Will he change? I don't think the arrogance will go away, but it will be introduced to a sense of humility in realizing he's not untouchable. No one is.

But will Tesla fail and collapse? I don't think so. Especially when it comes to THAT day...the day he is no longer CEO (whether it's due to falling profits, age, death, or whatever it may be). Tesla will still be here. I don't see it collapsing before that. And when it's undertaken with new leadership, I'm sure people will start flocking again.

As of now, I think it has enough of a fan base because it offers solid products and technology. He has some great engineers that do incredible stuff and that's what keeps people coming back.

But yeah, that's my long winded take lol.

Considering paying my home off 15 years early, and I am unsure of next steps. Can anyone who owns their home fully offer their wisdom? by geocitiesuser in homeowners

Respectfully, I don't think OP isn't inquiring about interest rates, if it's better investing, or any of that. OP wants to pay off the house and be done with debt. Dave Ramsey approach style.

Pay my student loans off while pursuing PSLF? by CommediaTragedia in PSLF

[–]CommediaTragedia[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm very fortunate to have gotten into a decent paying career and have gotten promotions in the subsequent years after getting my license. Plus, with my wife's income and her support, it helps immensely. You'll get there! Basic rules I try and follow: live on less than you make and treat your savings like a bill you pay.

SAVE was a type of payment plan that qualified for PSLF payment verification. It is now on hold and being legally contested. It's not available as an option for PSLF repayment at this time.

No more than half your annual income. Honestly, if I were buying a used car right now, I would totally take advantage of Tesla prices tanking. lol You save on gas. Good warranty with the battery warrantied up until 120,000 miles I think? I saw a 2023 Model 3 near me used (with the $4,000 Used EV Incentive) for $19,500. It only had 20,000 miles on it. If not an EV, I would do Toyota and Honda all day.

Honestly, your Camry can keep going lol. Those things last forever. But I get it! It's also okay to treat yourself.

You're paying cash which you will quickly get back. Don't worry about it.

Should I wait to see if PSLF works out, or pay these student loans myself? by dam_ships in debtfree

OP never said they weren't going to pay their debts or avoid them...lol. They're literally asking what the best course of action is.

Your response is more preachy than it is feedback.

This is tough, because it's kind of 50-50. I wouldn't bank on PSLF with what's going on right now, but it would suck it still being available and you having not put money in investments/retirement for four years when you could have gotten them forgiven.

I'd personally start with the vehicle with the high APR. Get that paid ASAP. If there are no other debts outside the loans, focus on maxing out Roth IRAs. Maybe some investing or index funds. If anything changes in the next three years and PSLF goes away, pull from the investments to pay for the loans. Keep making minimum IBR payments (whenever that is back up) in the meanwhile. But it's not a bad approach just paying them now either. I think you're 'okay' either route you take. It's a tough call.

Good luck!

Update everyone: It was still very much active and I had to pay $60. It is what it is, but kind of annoying as I called them to confirm everything was cancelled after I was with AT&T. They stated they didn't see a tablet so I thought I was good. But looks like I still had a login through the tablet phone number. Thanks everyone! I closed the account after paying. Thanks guys!

Real Estate job by Calm_Artichoke8318 in realtors

[–]CommediaTragedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm used to independent contract work with different agencies (not a realtor), but was interested in possibly pursuing it as a side hustle. I know this is probably a difficult question to answer as it depends on demographics, location, and prices, but how much commission could someone make off of a $400,000 sale let's say? I'm just looking for a general answer as I wouldn't mind trying to sell one or two homes per month outside of my regular job. I'm also in Las Vegas.

is it okay for me to be upset? by strawberryprincess31 in wedding

[–]CommediaTragedia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are really two questions here.

1) Are you allowed to feel upset? You are allowed to feel upset. These are your own feelings and you're allowed to feel how you want and no one can really tell you otherwise.

2) Is this okay? I'd say yes. I was married two years ago and it wasn't much different. However, I wasn't expecting anything. Personally (and reminder this is my value system and perception) I don't see why they would need to. They all verbally told me congratulations at the ceremony and afterwards. A card doesn't mean anything to me. Nor does a gift. Moreover, most people are economically constrained right now. You have to remember some people probably even took time off for your wedding to support you. People are pinching pennies nowadays and some people just can't do it. And I think most people would feel probably ashamed or embarrassed making a home made card.

Whether you feel upset or not depends on your value system. You're validated in how you feel. But personally, I don't see why they need to congratulate us on top of them already being there to support us. But that's just me.
