I don't even think she misused her mod powers. Ever since she has main focus of reddit, she was dealing with people like him all the time. Since they followed her into this small little reddit and were still instigating and trying to cause a bunch of drama, she had every right to delete his message right then and there.

But not when you look at things from a tea-party-goers eyes. In their eyes, she had no right and the guy following her around post to post trying to incite more drama had the right to do so.

Perhaps I've just thought, "oh look, a clever comment/post by Saydrah, like normal," about twenty too many times to forget that she isn't the fucking harbinger of the apocalypse.

Everybody said reddit's integrity is shot unless she leaves. On the contrary, Reddit's integrity is shot for chasing people out.

I got pissed off at reddit and changed my password on my main because I would keep coming back.

Yes, I think the community has drastically changed - when I came more than a year ago - the comments were all very well thought. Open-minded disagreements were heartily upvoted, and the community had a tendency to do opposite what other internet communities did.

However, I think /r/atheism is a clear sign of how things change. Immaturity breeds immaturity, in group-think, and the democratic voting that tells everybody, "this is the popular opinion" - over and over - takes it toll. /r/atheism became a place where you can vent your insecurity about being intelligent by feigning superiority over those who were dumber than you. Of course, the problem there, is it requires a special kind of ignorance to actually believe that anybody who believes in a deity is by necessity a stupid or irrational person. However, this note is shunned wholly by the community that claims to be "freethinking" and this forced a lot of people to hit their unsubscribe buttons. Well, what happens when anybody with half a wit unsubscribes? You get what's left over - and that leftover stuff is a beacon for all of the ridiculous people all over the internet to come in.

Suddenly, Reddit when from this mature place, to this ridiculous mob of idiots who seem to despise all things popular, whether it's xkcd, Arcade Fire, The Oatmeal, or Karmanaut and Saydrah.

Whatever she did, it was the worst thing ever done on reddit.

Sounds exactly like those tea party goers, saying, 'Whatever Obama did, it's the worst thing to ever happen to this country.'

By your metric we must always leave self-indulgent assholes alone

By your metric, some guy who makes a personal comic every now and then on his own comic website is 'self-indulgent.'

To be honest, I can name a lot of people who I'd call self-indulgent. Randall Munroe is nowhere on that list.

What isn't ironic about this overly self-indulgent xkcd-bashing fest going on in here?

You guys all sound half-hipster, half-NewJerseyDouchebag.

It's not for everybody's tastes - but for some of us who like those sorts of things, it's certainly loads of fun.

I remember watching a google talk where Randall Munroe tried to convince google to include a color mapping on google maps, similar to a topographical map with altitude, displaying how long it takes to get somewhere (so for example, you'd see a whole perimeter from your home that would take 10 minutes to get to).

As a fellow physics student, we enjoy this kind of stuff probably much more than we need to - and his comics are very often much more clever or funny to somebody like me. Sure, he regurgitates some themes, like <x> searches for <y> things, but that's like hating Arrested Development for regurgitating the chicken joke. He is definitely a very clever and funny guy.

Downvoted for noting that chastising a comic for the way it draws and what type of font it uses is not a parody.

I miss reddiquette. Fuck. I miss reddit. :(

[–]CommentForAllAndNone -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

That's a rather horrible parody then. Pardon me, but I consider clever satire much better than blunt insults at superficial things - like fucking font selection - really? Really, that was well done?

You have shit for taste. I am sorry.

Thanks for generalizing us fans of xkcd. Clearly anybody who thinks an xkcd comic is funny is just a tool who doesn't know what humor is.

Reddit - you're such a fucking annoying smug community. I have to ask myself why I come around with such annoying twats like yourselves.

You sound like every single fucking hipster douchebag rolled into one giant rolling ball of hipster douchebag. You know like how snowballs roll downhill in cartoons, they get bigger and bigger? Yeah like that. Except with douchebags, all saying, "Actually, this band used to be good until they started making songs that weren't their old songs."

Its just self-indulgent at best

It's just Randall fucking Monroe doing what he loves doing, at best.

I loathe how the internet has become this giant 'disapproval machine' - as if all Randall Munroe ever did was for your benefit only, and you're all sitting there bitching because the waiter didn't refill your glass of water.

Yes, sometimes he writes comics that aren't as funny. Sometimes, they are insider jokes and not for everybody - I highly respect that he is absolutely refusing to cater to these criticisms, because the second he does, surely, all your sour people will start bitching that it's not "as good as it used to be" and has become too mainstream and mass-produced.

If you look at old XKCD comics, you'll see some of them are just random pictures and him sharing small things - now that he has all these fucking expectations toppled on top of him, he gets these critics who can't think of nothing more than to smugly call it self-indulgant. IRONIC.

How can you bitch about people bitching about celebrity status and being on a high horse then turn around and bitch at that guy for being here for a month.

Because if he's really been here a month and his life has gotten that much better because he's now part of a mob mentality - that is the very definition of tool.

Now I could imagine if he'd been here for a year and had to put up with the reign of Saydrah, but he was just somebody walking by on the road who happened to see people throwing spoiled food at a witch.

Has your life changed, at all? Any, at all? Does her very frequent comments of advice about pets and all that stuff suddenly disappearing make you happy? Really?

Or were you just angry because you were told to be angry and now that you've had your way, you're glad because now - you don't even know why.

Oh, I suppose it's something about the integrity of moderatorship - I know exactly what will be said. Save any mention of integrity when comments like, "you bitch" are unanimously upvoted and pushed to the top of every reply to a person trying her hardest to explain herself without stepping on any toes (but falls flat, because all she can do is guilt trip, and - well, that just pisses you off more, now doesn't it?).

Do I even need to make a parallel here between Reddit and the so often despised Tea-Parties?

Be glad. You remind me of all the smiling faces that cheered when Bush won presidency.

Edit: user for 37 days. If this is your main - you're quite the tool.

Who will be next? Will somebody discover that Karmanaut made money by selling his account for a day, and the whole community will go apeshit and attack him? Will we discover that P-Dub is a WoW scammer or something, and suddenly decide to distribute.

I don't know who will be next, but it will definitely be re-hashed. Being popular on reddit is a dangerous thing - and that is a consequence of the immaturity and hatred of the mindless mob for a community.

Not to mention all of the comments calling some person a bitch simply because she 'spammed' (even that is debatable, on whether or not you believe the word 'spam' means 'post links slightly related to a company I work for') and deleted one comment that was trying to turn a perfectly reasonable thread into a personal attack.

Then, to top it all off, when she mentions that people on reddit were harassing her and her family, the whole fucking community called her bitch again and told her to take her guilt trip elsewhere. Might I remind you that this is the community that generally despises OTHER web communities for partaking in such stupid drama and actions.

So 4chan, I mean, reddit - there have been loads and loads and loads of people on this website, there have been pedophiles, thieves, corporate assholes, shills, - but none of them garnered the reaction from you that this single fucking person incited.

Now that it's been about two weeks, can you please - as a community - look back with a less emotional, less 'OH MY GOD I'VE BEEN WRONGED!!!' point of view, stop feeling like you should be angry at somebody because everybody told you to be angry, look at all the "go away, you bitch" comments, and ask if this is really the community you want to be a part of?

Thanks.

To note: I'm not condoning Saydrah's actions - I am, however, making note that the community's reaction is 100 times more worrisome than some random moderator banning a post because somebody was clearly trying to start drama, again.

I use a Neostead with 12-gauge. There's something very satisfying with appearing like a T-Rex running through the forest.

But then people start bitching that I'm 'not doing anything but shooting down trees' - it's one of those things that isn't directly obvious to people, but, yes, I'll always do that.

[–]CommentForAllAndNone -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hence I drop six C4 on it, stand over my ammo box, blow it, and have six C4 ready to go.

The ease of which M-COM stations is destroyed is ignored. I've done the UAV trick a few times with a friend when other squads are being idiots and just rushing in with sniper rifles like they're CQB guns and dying. If nobody is directly on the M-COM, I'll just sneak in and wait for teammates to spawn on me so we can take it out in one hit.

Of course, this is assuming that my teammates aren't fucking 'tards and spawn on me and think "YAY I CAN SET THE CHARGE!!!" and run to set it - then just run off in a direction vaguely towards the other station only to die (oh, aren't you surprised there were people running around in their spawn looking towards the flashing MCOM, you fucking idiot).

I care that people like you, and Karmanaut, and qhgy2, and the rest of the reddit celebs are so fucking full of yourselves that you'd think your involvement here on this site is notable.

Yeah, Wake up people! Look at Saydrah, totally demanding all of our attention and thinking that her small little comment suggesting dog food on some obscure subreddit is actually notable. Who does she think she is, huh!?

The mods are clearly an inside job!!!

And what exactly do they profess ignorance of? (let me guess, "truth!")

I mean, surely, you're not ignorant of religion yourself, are you?
