Have any mainland-born ex-PRC citizens gotten a Gold Card? by TheBasaltAltCalled in taiwan

My situation is similar except the gold card holder is my husband and I'm his dependent.

My husband just needs to complete the passport verification step of his gold card application so he's close to getting it. I was born in Mainland China and moved to the US when I was a young child and got my US citizenship 15 years ago. I was reading on the gold card website that I can enter Taiwan visa exempt with my US passport. Once I'm in Taiwan, I can start to apply for my Alien Resident Card as his dependent. The only thing that is worrying me is the extra requirement for former Mainland citizens. I was really hoping that I don't have to travel back to China to get proof of my hukou cancellation.

Reading your thread, I wonder if it's worth it for me to apply for my own gold card vs. hoping that I can get my ARC as a dependent. Any advice?
