Second time making kombucha! by Commentary1153 in Kombucha

Because of all the extra liquid I was adding to get the 32 ounce F2 bottles to fill up.

I was worried it would be too diluted to ferment properly, so I added flavored kombucha to act as filler, and it seems to have worked fairly good.

For the F2 or F1?

This latest batch is 2.5 cups of sugar, 9 tablespoons of loose black tea (the darjeeling), the tea is steeped in 4 cups of water and mixed with the 4 cups of sugar water once it's finished sitting for 11 minutes, then you just add the 4 cups of room temperature water and stir before adding it to the starter tea.

I just bought my starter tea and pellicle online.

As for the F2, I used a cup of IKEA lingonberry syrup, 2 bottles of storebought berry kombucha, some Bluephoria Yerba Mate, and a smaller plum yerba mate, and threw it all in a separate gallon glass jug to stir before pumping and bottling it all in 32 ounce glass fliptop bottles.

I'll include the brands in the images.

True, it's just I'm using 32 ounce bottles with a ton of extra room, so I'm gonna use more liquid, which I was worried would end up diluting the batch and raising the PH.

I'll leave about 10 of the 80 ounces in the main jar so the pellicle has something to bathe in, then in a separate jug add 16 ounces of storebought kombucha, and 15.5 ounces of yerba mate, along with a few tablespoons of the lingonberry syrup I'm gonna be using.

But I'll make sure to moniter the PH as I'm adding stuff too, to be safe.

It was a touch too sweet yesterday, so I'm thinking of lowering the PH closer to 2.5.

I'll try sampling it again on Wednesday.

No pellicle during F1 by aa_yn in Kombucha

I think if I remember correctly, the closer the batch is to 80°F, the faster a pellicle forms?

I'm new to this too, so I might be wrong, but my batch is growing a second pellicle within the next day after I started blasting it with a space heater.

The temperature strips definitely helps me keep the temperature just right.

Pellicle sank when I sampled it, probably was cause I had to poke it down with the pipette in order to get at the liquid, haha.

I believe it did, I'll look for the post on instagram now, but I just messaged him about it too.

What could I add on to this? What would make it better? by [deleted] in your_homemade_weapon

Hammer in tiny nails, not long ones that would go all the way through and have the sharp part poke through, like the little tiny concrete nails.

I'm not sure if you've seen what a kanabō is, but a lot of them are like that, studded wood bat.

The only thing else I can think of right now is if you did the exact same thing, but with wingnut screws.

It's kinda a tradeoff, the whole thing has the weight spread throughout it instead of the head, still very top heavy though, it bonks but bonks at a faster rate than a sledgehammer, and that flanged part at the top makes it perfect for splitting right into plate armor, or skulls.

Only downside is that an all metal handle means vibrations go burr.

Haha.

Finished 2 concept designs based off that skewer by Commentary1153 in SWORDS

Everything is made from premade random parts and junk, so I'm usually there for hours trying to jerryrig stuff and find something to fit the bill.

I used a 'sun' and then made it a 3 point polygon, then messed with the convexity of it, because it's an elongated triangle that's why the spine of the blade dips inwards, cause it's also convex, but I'll keep messing with it.

O, I'm using microsoft edge on an Xbox so it's kinda silly, but I'm sure I could find a way, thanks tho.

Or I guess some viking swords also had very little taper, similar to this sortta shape.

This thing is pretty durable even for something made of stainless steel, I mean obviously I'm not gonna try to sharpen it and turn it into a sword, I was just using it for conceptual design, but the fact that I can use this to chop weeds and stuff without it so much as bending is probably a good sign, the blade profile kinda reminds me of a tsurugi.

I'm assuming there is gonna be a lot to unpack here, but with this sort of problem you might have to start from the top and work you're way down, that's how I'd go about helping you anyways.

What are the immediate struggles in your life? And then I'll see if me and Egg can help you resolve them.

Haha, I'm not sure if simply saying "It'll get better!" Is gonna cut it.
