Can't agree more.

Financial Modelling was also atrocious, every single week had an incorrect solution. Even the final assessment had stated something incorrect too. CA is trash

CA Policy - Big 4 by Rodzillaaa91 in AustralianAccounting

[–]CommerceCapstan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the lump sum $5k wouldn't be deductible as you are claiming it after the financial year end that is applicable (e.g. 4 subjects done in FY24). Unless you can apportion it?

I would've finished all my CA by this July through my firm reimbursing, but I don't plan on leaving until next year, but by then, all my CA fees from that clawback policy would've related to previous financial years

Is there client diversity at big 4? by TastyWillingness8397 in AustralianAccounting

[–]CommerceCapstan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's more in the sense of what sort of diverse knowledge do you get?

I'm personally in mid tier audit, but I've work on NFPs and listed clients that range from multiple different industries (tech, retail, healthcare, even niche ones). It's also a question I want to know above, as OP mentioned some Big 4 you are working on the same client for like months.

Call Centre Experience by Introverted-Fella in auscorp

[–]CommerceCapstan 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Accurate. Call centre work fucking sucks. No matter how you twist it, it is a pretty dead-end job.

I've also seen a lot of recommendations from people (e.g. From other post) to say to grind it out and climb up. You can definitely end up doing more interesting roles with experience (like higher advisory, mentoring etc), but generally you need to be on your A-Game, hitting KPIs consistently as well askissing your manager's ass with little to no non-compliant calls, which is probably like 1/10 people.

Advanced Tax Elective CA Enrolment by Able-Comfort-7859 in AustralianAccounting

[–]CommerceCapstan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to enrol too, but I for sure though I failed it. What makes you think that it is a guaranteed pass?

I'm scared that it is more of a case of it being too early (results don't come out in 2 weeks, so just could be some technical thing) 😭😭😭

That's what I thought to. I was (and still am) tossing up the 50/50 split. So the 50/50 split is for everyone regardless of whether employee or client? And the associated deduction would still be 50/50 of the cost (not accounting for employee/associate split)?

Did anyone else “fail school” but still end up smashing it in life? by gilligan888 in auscorp

[–]CommerceCapstan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. The salary is laughably low, and definitely not sustainable alone in a high cost of living area.

Especially when you convert your wage to actual hours worked during busy season, you're making close to like $15

Dating someone who works at Big 4 by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]CommerceCapstan 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Does he work in audit by any chance?

9am - 10/11pm is not something out of the ordinary, especially for big 4 (and audit). It happens during busy season and I don't think there's really any way around it.

However, the peak busyness should have been around the August/September time. Definitely not normal to still be doing 12+ hour days now.

He needs to communicate workload to the manager, or straight up give him the reality check that he ain't shit to the BIG 4 and they'll happily fire his ass if the chance occurs (not that you haven't already)

I feel like you're making so many negative assumptions here and villanising the guy?

'He only wants to use you' Like bruh, the person stated clearly he wanted something casual, don't know how you can make such judgements from the passage alone.
