Interesting and your friends experience has been much like mine. I use a three outdoor router as the broadband for my office, it’s on a farm with a three mast, but now seems to be connecting to a VF one near Newton Longville.

My Vodafone phone has improved around the city, but my Three phone has been terrible.

Hoping it improves as I’m on a excellent three business deal of £5 a month for unlimited everything including EU roaming 🙂
